Not happy with breakfast at Goofy's kitchen

I ate at Goofy's Kitchen in May of 2014 and on 8/31/14. Both times were excellent character interaction.

We saw Goofy, Pluto, Captain Hook, Chip, Dale, Snow White, Princess Jasmine, Rafiki, Baloo, Mad Hatter, & Alice in Wonderland.

The food was excellent too.

We had a similar experience at Minnie's. We were sat outside, basically alone by the wall. No server ever came by after the initial time and after 45 minutes, we had seen no one. They were all over the patio, but then would go backstage. We complained and then saw about 4 characters in the next 20 minutes. But.... People from the patio kept sending their kids down to the characters and cutting in. The only saving grace was my kids were both under 2.5, so they didn't know they were missing anything. It was awful. I want to give Minnie's another shot because others seem to love it, but I just can't. I have heard early reservation are key at Minnie's. We were trying to make an early lunch of it. IF we try it again (and that's a big if) it will be early.

My experience is the opposite, our first time at Minnies was wonderful last seating about 11am. There was only 1 other group in our area and so many characters came by it was hard to eat, the characters came by multiple times and spent ages, photos, autographs, games-I swore by this meal to everyone planning a trip.
Fastforward to this trip and a 9.30am seating (10am opening) It.was.awful.
In fact it was the straw that broke the camels back and had me head off to city hall for a chat.

Ha ha! Good to know we weren't alone either! If you remember, let me know if it improved for you! We are trying Ariel's next trip. We really like the one at Paradise Pier, but unless we are staying there, it's a bit out of the way.

We have done Ariels twice and found the food to be great both times (both lunch) especially the desserts this most recent trip.
However the character interaction was so so, very much photo autograph move on (CRT at WDW is a million times better for interaction)
You want to make sure you get an indoor seating otherwise being out on the patio is quite disappointing-you might as well be round the corner at the wharf...

That's good to know. My sister was telling me there are "seatings" so it is more organized than a traditional character meal. Is this true? She said they alternated seatings between indoors and out. Will they know when I make the reservation? (like the ones on the hour are indoors or something?)

We have always been very pleased with GK. In fact one year we were there on the DD 9th birthday and she was dressed in a Cinderella outfit. The castmate told her she had a surprise for her and went to get Cinderella. That made for some very big smiles! We always go for a late breakfast/brunch. Last time we had seven characters stop by including Pluto, Snow White and Mulan. We have also done some of the other character meals but the family (including my husband for the food) prefers GK.

Yes there are seatings and they alternate indoors and out. You can ask when you book but I warn you that when we booked I requested an indoor table in one of the booths if possible (at 60 days out) and showed up for an outdoor seating-very disappointing.

Do they do this year round? I can even imagine sitting outside in the December weather we had last year. It probably would have been in the 40's at the time of our lunch.

I think overall character meal experiences are hit or miss. Sometimes they are awesome (food and character interaction) others, rotten. I think it's extra disappointment when you have a rotten visit and just paid SO much money for your meal and experience. You shouldn't have to ask yourself, "what did I just pay for???"

Some of our greatest character memories have been at Goofy's Kitchen but we have had crappy experiences as well. We celebrated my son's first birthday at breakfast there and had ZERO characters visit by the time we were done eating. My husband went to ask about it and then we had Hook, Peter Pan, Jasmine and Dale all there to help my son blow out the candle on his cupcake. Great at that moment but a huge disappointment overall and we were bummed we had to ASK for our table with seven kids to see some characters!
