I'll be there in a few days
I'll post some pics for ya when I get back :goodvibes

It is fairly large and the food is gooooddddd popcorn::

We love AK (I own there). However, I don't stay there when I go solo because of the buses. (I use an ECV because of mobility issues and it freaks me out to have to get on a bus with an ECV because of all of the negative comments and looks.) I love Mara, I love their store and their lobby and love seeing the animals. if you are a pin trader, don't forget to ask to see their pin trading bag. They keep it under the counter on the side desk. :goodvibes
We have a Dec trip planned there. Penny:hippie:

Thanks for that tip! We arrive in 12 days and my daughter is a pin trader. I will make sure I tell her this.

Oooh! Be sure to have the turkey focaccia sammie with arugula and olives!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. :thumbsup2

The Mara is pretty big. A lot of the area though is consumed by the food preparation area, grab n go, drinks, condiments and check-out. If I'd have to venture to guess the seating area would hold about 100 to 125 people. There is also additional seating outside for around another 20 people.

I agree! This is so good....comes with a cous-cous salad, too. Really good! Now I'm hungry!! :lmao:

We love Mara...great chicken Ceasar salad, soups, turkey focaccia sandwich with cous-cous salad, chicken, pizzas, plus a number of grab-and-go items. Lots of seating indoors and out....love to sit outside and eat by the pool!

i see you mention moving from POR -----it is a LOT smaller than the food court at POR though at least in terms of seating. I've had a hard time finding a seat at Mara many mornings. Seating outside is really nice, but if the weather is good, those go quick too.

we had the same issue at Roaring Forks at WL, during busy times, you couldn't find a seat.

How do you pronounce Mara? Like Mah-Rah or Mara (rhymes with Sara).

I never thought about it but Mara is the name that we've picked out for Baby Girl who's arriving in July. It's actually a character in a book. Hope she doesn't go through her life thinking she's named after the food court at AK.

I think it is Mah-rah. That's how I say it. Hope I'm right.

It seats fewer than POR, but POR's food court is huge and Mara isn't.

I've never figured out a way to get there without having to go outside. I'm sure employees can, but as a guest, I can't find it. If you find one, let me know!

I've always heard it pronounced at the lodge as Mara (like Sara). At least that's what the cast members have done.

dalt, I'm confused. Why do you need to know how many it holds? Are you hoping to hold a private event there?

:eek:How many people are in your party?

could be that food courts that seat less than 120 give me a panic attack:).........or...........maybe i want to buy a round of bacon:)...............or.................i steal chairs and want to know if they have a good selection:)........but the truth is....small food court means gridlock at 8 am and noon...........and............i am having trouble with the rest of the family who think POR and Riverside Mill are the holy grail of resorts and food courts and dont want to switch.......... by the way how ARE the chairs:laughing:

How do you make rope drop if you're sitting in a food court at 8am???:confused3...I'm just saying....

Mike
i looked back through the whole thread and i dont see anywhere that i said i was worried about the rope drop. i do not understand your comment.
