Not Feeling The Magic So Much...

And now I'm reading about FPs for BOG lunch--but only if you have a room only reservation. I made the mistake of actually booking my entire package through Disney direct, so not eligible for that either, I guess.

Maybe I'm due for some major pixie dusting once we arrive! pixiedust:

Sorry to hear about this. I spent all of June and most of July in Orlando doing a school internship (not in disney) & got an AP. I went to disney multiple times & noticed that disney seems to be slipping! Rides broke down more than ever (space mtn, btmrr, rnrc, tsm) and I noticed alot of rude cm's!

Still had a great time but noticed the magic is not as strong as it used to be!

We're going 8/25-8/31 and from MA, too! Whereabouts are you up here?

And thank you all for understanding my little vent here! I know everything is going to be fine and we're going to have a blast, just feel like there's these few little nagging things.

But we're staying at POFQ, our first moderate trip. We were able to get the ADRs we wanted (free dining PIN!!!). My oldest DS requested all new restaurants this year, so we're trying a bunch of new places. We're making a side trip to Legoland, which is my youngest DS's "Holy Land"! So all in all, it's going to be fine. We all just need to unload every once in a while!

We are from Maine going 8/17 to 9/2 we are staying at pop once again. :) Love that place. We have stayed at POFQ alot in the past as well. It is nice but we stuck with the QSDP again as we prefer it.

We will also be headed to legoland as well hopefully we can hurry up and get off the cruise that am and head to legoland. My girls are obsessed with those things. Dh really don't want to do legoland at all. But the tickets were a gift for older dd birthday. So he is going. I know he is thinking that we are going and he won't be able to ride anything.

Honestly the percentage of people using the magic bands and really really small. So I don't think that will effect your trip at all. We ave the magic bands but won't have a fridge if that makes you feel better. Pop has one of the models that are being pulled.

Have a nice trip.pixiedust:

First, found out that both Muppets 3D and Jungle Cruise are closed the whole time of our vacation. I know--certainly not the end of the world! However, these are two rides that my kids love! They actually love the lame jokes on JC so much! Yes, there's still plenty of other rides, but just that first little dip in the magic...

Last time we were at WDW, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was closed for refurb (last year), and it is probably everyone in my family's list of top 5 rides. A little dissapointed, but whatever. Then we went to DisneyLand just two weeks ago. Guess what was closed for refurb?

Oh no! That stinks.

On the up side, the odds of BTMRR being down are high on any given day, so you might have missed it anyway. :rotfl:

I'm really bummed that the MK railroad will be closed during our trip. My son LOVES it. We don't care for Peter Pan, but I'm worried that it will congest crowds elsewhere in Fantasyland. I'm a bit upset about the possibility of no fridge, but we can make do with a cooler and ice. And I'm keepin' on dreamin' that FP+ will NOT be in place by October. Mainly because I just used fastpass for the first time last year and felt like I got it down pat, and don't wanna change to another system!

But this will only be my third trip in almost 20 years, and like you said, you want things to be magical when you can't go very often. I can see where those who can go more often just think--we'll catch it next trip, what's the big deal?

However, these are all very minor thoughts to me and I spend most of my planning time focusing on what we CAN do.

My thoughts exactly! We are also going in October and just found out about Peter Pan being down...a little bummed as we only go every 3 years but we'll manage. I can only hope that in the next 3 years they get this FP+ thing all figured out so that by the time we go again there won't be this big cloud hanging over us..."will they have fp+ or will they not???"

Oh, don't feel bad about the pity party. I had one of my own recently. I've been having some real stomach issues lately (haven't been able to eat anything but broth for a while). And finally after about a week or so, I broke down & had my own pity party because we're going to Disney soon & I was afraid I wouldn't be able to eat any yummy Dis food! LOL So it's all good.:goodvibes

I was part of the Fastpass+ testing back in December and wasn't too impressed. To me, it seemed to cater to those who want to arrive at the park later in the day (after a relaxing character breakfast or sleeping in) and have Fastpasses already in their hands. The options were terrible for someone in a wheelchair and not able to do RnR or ToT. Disney just expects families to fit a certain mold and if you don't...SOL. I guess I just prefer the more egalitarian method of everybody waiting their turn no matter what hour of the day. Anyways, it was a hassle and I don't think you guys are missing out on much.

I'm always a little sad when my favorite rides are down or I can't go on them (I'm not going to ditch my mom for an hour to go ride SM, ToT, BTM, KR, etc.). I always have to keep reminding myself that there are a lot of other enjoyable experiences and that maybe someday I will finally loose my virginity on some of the e-ticket rides (Remake of the 40-year-old Virgin at WDW?) I was super excited to ride SM for the first time last year when we rushed over at the beginning of EMH! I'm just glad that now there are apps that post when a ride is down. It was such a bummer and waste of time to wheel over to the JC during EMH only to find out that the wheelchair vehicle was taken out of service that night (seriously, they could have taken it out on a regular night since it was only a rotational removal).
