Not Fair. Those without a code should not be allowed to book with one!

I called Saturday with no code and no pin number and got the 40% off at the Poly. My friend called today; same thing but with the discount at POR. I was never asked for any code or pin. I just asked if there were any discounts available at the end of August. For those people who aren't getting the discounted rate - maybe you shouldn't be giving a code when you call??? I'm guessing that my friend and I got a general public discount because we didn't have any code.

I've called several times and asked if any discounts are available in Sept. Twice I have been told there is nothing out past June and Sept discounts won't come out until late spring. Obvisously, they are either lying or have never heard about the 40%. It just bothers me that the whole thing isn't fair for anyone. If you got the code, people without the code are booking and that's not right. If you didn't get the code, that's really not fair either. I don't think it has anything to do with if you normally stay onsite or not because I know someone who got the code and stayed on site in the summer of '06. We stayed on site in the fall of '06 and no code. I am really contemplating staying off site because of this whole mess.

just called again. Very nice CM, but she couldn't give me the discount rate because you have to have the pincode. That is 10 calls in 6 days now. In fact, she had me hold on a second, then came back and wanted to know who told me about the discount code because so many people are calling about it. I fudged, and said the phone rep yesterday...but that I hadn't been ready to decide without talking to my dh. Well, she asked me to try hard and remember the phone rep's name.

I think some phone reps are going to get in trouble.

I was ambiguous about whether this was a real discount for everyone, and the phone reps just weren't properly informed or what....but really, it is rather obvious that some phone reps are making a mistake by booking for people who are not eligible.

Anyone get brave enough to email Guest Relations, and ask if their non-pincode discount would be honored? WDW will know anyone who didn't receive the postcard or email and booked anyway got the code from SOMEWHERE...in fact they probably know darn well it is all over the DISboards, meaning they know we know it is potentially NOT for the general public.

ANd they do have the disclaimer in small print that they can cancel anyone's reservation at any time for any reason.

Beth

Beth,

That is the same thing I was told on Saturday when I called about changing mine to a package. I mentioned how happy we were about getting the pin code via e-mail and she said that it was a great discount that you can only get if you got the pin code via e-mail or postcard.

I called yesterday. I tried to book on june 3 for seven nights. I asked about any discounts. I said that my dates were flexible as was my resort choice. I was told there were no discounts available for me. I was within the dates. I will be trying back again this evening when I get home. The guy I talked to was very nice and he seemed to be looking and checking, but still came back with nothing. I even finally said that I had a friend that got 40% off of her room and she said that she thought it was a special for the magical weeks or whatever its called. He said to find out what code she used and call back. Maybe it was something new that was out that he wasn't seeing.

If I can get it, great, if not that's fine too. I'm planning to go regardless. Congrats to those that got it! Enjoy!

As a side note, he did say that he couldn't see if there was a pin or special discount available to me without knowing the code. I called the day before and talked to someone else who looked up my name and said that there was no pin associated with it. WHen they do that, does it check everyone in your household or just my name? I didn't ask about my husbands name, but you would think they would check right?

I don't understand why anyone would get snarky about others using a code that may/may not havebeen meant for them. Maybe I am missing something but I dont see why one would take it personally. It just seems a little childish & petty I suppose.

It's not like we're all holding the code in a secret place and people with pins don't know about it. The codes are out in the open for anyone to find out. Also, even if you get a post card or email with the code/pin, you would want to book it right away since those room blocks go quickly.

Are people going to start complaining about those people booking early now even when they get the code/pin?

"Wah, no more rooms are available to me now because I waited to book. How can they do that to me?"

I think the whole system is a mess. How about just lowering the prices all the way around. Why should we have to feel like we are sneaking around in order to save some bucks. Two years ago, I booked the dining plan and paid for it, when all along it was during a free dining promo. The CRO didn't bother to tell me that everyone else that week was eatting for free. I had to kick, scream and cry just to get a partial refund. I found out about the free dining 2 days AFTER the booking deadline.

I would be angry to. From talking to a couple of CM's this isn't suppose to be something that everyone can book. It's only suppose to be available to those who got the pin code sent to them via e-mail or postcard.

I think one of the issues is that a couple of people with the pin code tried to make reservations and were told that all the rooms set aside for the pin code were already booked up.

Just a quick note on this, 2 points

1. Other CMs have stated the opposite - that it is for general public
2. You may not have gotten an email or postcard but the pin code may be attached to your household.

Now for the rest of this thread

There are enough minor personal attacks on here that I do not even want to deal with it. Remember this is Disney's screw-up not the DISboards or WDWINFO.com. It is also not the fault of any other posters on these boards, so please stop pointing fingers and trying to place blame on anyone here.

That is way outside of the acceptable posting guidelines.

Say goodbye to this thread.....
