Not Enough Time... Really???

Is this crazy or what, I know I'm not alone, and yes this is meant to be funny. Every night when I scour the Navigators and say, I want to do that, and I want to do that, and don't even get me going on everything I want to eat...LOL. We pay good money for this kind of craziness.:confused3

Is this your first cruise? I was the same way on my first, I wanted to do everything. Second cruise, I chilled out (I was also traveling solo for that one). In 20 days we hit our first DCL cruise and while there are many things I want to do I am traveling with an 8 month old which will limit me (and I'm glad). I want to take it easy this trip.

What I would say is figure out what you absolutely cannot miss out on, for you and your kids or whomever you're traveling with. Remember that you won't be able to do everything but enjoy what you can.

While I agree with you that there is so much to do and not enough time to do it, I would not dare call it hectic.

Having all the choices available is part of what makes a cruise so much fun. I suspect there is a lot of stuff you would like to do but if you accept the fact that you will not be able to it all, it gets a lot more manageable.

I never made it to the movie theater even though I was dying to see Lincoln so bad. I don't regret it one bit though. We did manage to get in to the Wreck it Ralph premiere but that was at the Walt Disney Theater and sadly, I fell asleep. (The movie seemed to be pretty good though, I was just tired)

I rode the Aquaduck once. I vowed to return but it was not to be.

Our day at Castaway Cay lasted (it seemed) all of 15 minutes. What an incredible day!

The way I figure, (and this is based on my experience and the experience of those I was with) you have two choices:

1. Go with the flow but doing as much as you can. that's what we did and had a blast. We didn't feel rushed or anything. We just pinpointed what interested us and if we could squeeze it in, we did. If we couldn't, there was always something else to do. No biggie.

2. Others I was with took a more leisurely approach: they had no trouble spending huge chunks of time at one activity, schedule be damned. However most of these people were previous DCL cruisers so...

The conclusion? Take several DCL cruises. LOL

I did a 14 night on the wonder that had 8 wonderful sea days and by the end was shocked that I actually did not have enough time to do everything. I had to force myself to go to a movie in our last sea day as I hadn't been to one by that point yet! Can't wait for another 2 week trip!

I can so relate to this!!!

We did the EBTA 14 nights back to back with 11 night med cruise and after those 25 nights we still had lots of stuff that we weren't able to do.
We have cruised before and cruised after this and still lots of things on our to do list.

You can't do it all in 1 trip

We've done cruises where we run from activity to activity (literally sometimes when they're back to back and on different decks). Sometimes we go on lots of excursions. But, sometimes we don't do much of anything.

The most frequent activity on our last B2B was spending time going through the Navigator. Not doing anything listed in the Navigator - just going through it several times seeing what was on next. Talking to DH about what we might do if we can actually get ourselves up off the lounge chair. Remarking on the items that we missed because we didn't get up off the lounge chair, didn't leave the Cove Cafe, were snoozing in the stateroom, sitting on the verandah, having a drink in the bar, watching TV in the stateroom. We did see two movies in the theatres. Seven times on the Aquaduck. Amazing how much time you can spend doing very little. Oddly, we didn't feel like we missed anything. Granted we've been on other cruises but that's what we like about them. You can feel like you've had a great time if you did a lot or if you didn't if you give yourself permission to go with the flow and do what feels right to you that day. Don't put any pressure on yourself and the family to see and do everything.

Next cruise - Med. Lots of port excursions and the others days maybe we'll do things or maybe not. I'm not at work - I can do whatever I want. Or not. The only must-do on board ship is to do what you want, when you want, if you want. Then book another.
