I only received 4 Magical Express tags for our luggage. We are flying Southwest and will be allowed to take up to 8 bags, and will probably take more than 4. How can I make sure my luggage gets where it is going?

DME sends only one tag per person these days. You have two options:

1) Call DME and request more tags if you are still at least a few weeks out. They do send them, but can be inconsistent. If you get them, great. You're all set.

2) If you're too close to your trip to request more tags or you never get any, you still can use the DME luggage transfer service for your untagged bags. You will need to stop at the DME Welcome Center desk, and give them your airline claim tags or info and a description of the untagged bags. They will use that information to pull your bags and get them to your room.

We've done both and both have worked fine.

You can call and ask for more.
On an interesting side note.. I got my tags today and there were 3 extra. FOR ANOTHER FAMILY at a completely different resort! I knew I'd be upset if I didn't get my tags so I called in and gave them all the info so they could resend them to this family. YIkes:sad2:

If you can't get more tags in time, you can do that the previous poster mentioned and check-in at the DME desk when you get to MCO. As an extra precaution you can buy some yellow duct tape and stick in to the side of the bag or around the handle, and just write Disney Magical Express on it and put your resort in smaller letters. This will stand out and make it easier for the DME cast members to find your bags. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure I would be comfortable putting yellow duct tape on my bag with the resort name on it. All the ME tags are scanned bared, I don't think your bag would make it to your room very safely. Just order more tags. I ordered more and we received them in three days.

I am leaving in a couple of days and after my request for more tags..I now have 7 to my name!! the other CM going with me has 4 and they were for the AKV! and we are staying at the AKL!! So call, they usually come within 7~8 days! So make sure you have the right numbers on them, and make sure the resort is right lol
or do you want one of mine?:goodvibes

This happened to us last year. We called to ask if they could send us one more tag and they told us that they were only allowing one bag per person to be picked up by ME. Any additional bags we needed to get from baggage claim. Although I think it all depends on who you talk to when you call. Because some people have been able to get extra tags.

Well you got bad advice there; which unfortunately is not uncommon.

As noted, they will send extra tags if there's enough time before you leave. And if you don't get the tags they will collect untagged bags for you if you give them the required info, so there's no need to go to baggage claim (as long as you are arriving between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.).

Thank you guys so much. i am still a little over 2 weeks out, so I am going to try to order more today and see if they make it. If not, I will just let them pick them up for me. I appreciate it so much!!

Same thing just happened to me and I just got off the phone with DME and they were SUPER SUPER nice. She said we had more than enought time and we leave Sept. 11th. She said she'd get them out right away and was very accomodating. No problems at all - in fact she was the nicest CM I have ever spoken to. Just thought I'd let you know my experience. :goodvibes

Who do I call to request more DME tags? I need one more for my mom...one tag for her isn't enough...lol.

Can you make a color photocopy? Admittedly using a scanner and an inkjet will do it although with many more mouse clicks needed compared with using an all in one.

Write in the correct resort name and date if not already.

Laminate the paper using (preferably wide) transparent tape to prevent tearing or waterlogging.

(If time permits, the best thing to do is call and request more tags.)

What baloney. Where on earth do they come up with some of these answers?
Curious though, did you call Disney CS or Magical Express CS? It's different

If you have to go with the option of turning in claim checks learn from my mistake
I did not keep track of which claim checks were on bags with yellow tags and which claim checks were from bags without yellow tags.
So, we had to give ALL of the claim checks to the CM when we checked in.
Either leave the yellow tags off all bags, and give all the checks to the CM or when the check in agent at the airline gives you the claim checks, make sure you know which go with which bag
