Not Disney related, but Air Transat vs West Jet

Anyone flown either Air Transat or West Jet?

We are looking to fly to Cancun this spring and it looks like the best prices are out of Toronto. The drive would be reasonable (shorter than going to Chicago) so this might be an option for us, but never heard of Air Transat before.

We did an Air Transat trip from Toronto to Puerto Vallarta about three years ago. They were nonstop charter flights and Air Transat's tour company arranged transfers to our resort. Everything went smooth and was on-time. We did find the seats in coach to be particularly small, seemed worse than the typical airlines we normally fly. Other than that, everything was good in our experience!

Have flown both.
Air Transat is a vacation airline, on both of our Mexican vacations they were flying A310's with the really tight seating (31" seat pitch I believe) which was almost unbearable for the 4+ hour flight. We booked Club level for our second vacation with the airline and it was more like business class on other airlines but definitely pushed the cost of our vacation up drastically.
Standard economy ticket is no frills (no seat selection, no drinks/snacks, 1 bag included but only 44lb limit)

Have used Westjet but for destinations like MCO, LAS, LAX, YYV, all flight have been on 737's which seem to have the older seating arrangement (read more leg room here) and I never felt cramped on any of these flights. Baggage allowance is 50lb but they recently started charging $25/bag each way unless you purchase an upgraded ticket which includes 1 bag

We've flown with both airlines. I prefer WestJet, but I'll happily fly AirTransat if the price is right.

Westjet planes are switching over to inflight entertainment that can only be accessed through an app. Out of the six planes I've been on this month, only two of them still had regular TV screen on the back of the seats. So if you fly with them, be sure to download the latest version of their app before you walk on the plane so you have something to watch during your flight.
