So, My wife and I had requested the last week of October off from work in hopes to take our four girls to Disneyland for a few days and enjoy Mickey's Halloween Party on October 31st. Once I had the funds in my account, (8/14, which seems like plenty of time to get tickets before they sell out) I was shocked to see that Halloween day was SOLD OUT!!!

No big deal, tons of families want to be there that night, I will still be there on the Friday before, so I will buy those tickets instead. Then it occurred to me, everything is on Ebay, so before buying tickets for Friday the 29th, I decided to check Ebay for any tickets being sold for the 31st.. What I found made me sick.

Tickets for the 31st are all over Ebay, for like 5x the price!!! One seller wants $450.00 for two tickets!!!!!!!! I may have been able to purchase tickets for this day for my kids to enjoy, but instead these people go on here, and basically hijack the tickets from Disney and sell them for a major profit, leaving hard working family's to pay these (insert rude adjective here) people wayyyyy to much money for these tickets, or be left in the cold....

Disney needs to link the buyer's personal identification information with the ticket so that they cannot be resold and that tickets are left available for people who actually want to use them and love Disney. These people make sure that other families cant attend all because they want to buy them up and make a huge profit on hard working people....disgusting!

It's reality this happens. I don't like it to. I have this problem with Disney Collectibles all the time. Disney does it best to prevent this from happening but they can't do anything more.

When I started collecting Vinylmations you where able to buy as many as you like. So people bought 20 of the same set (no joke) just to make a profit. Disney said whe bring it back to 5. Then 2 and now for limited editions 1. But even now people work their way around it.

Disney also states on the tickets they are personal and non transferable. I think they never check, but if they do......

On the other hand I think the 31st is the most crowded party of them all, now you can enjoy a sold uit but a little less crowded party.

I'd be frustrated too, OP.

But I wouldn't wish for them to make it harder to resell unused tickets. You just never know when your own plans will change and you will need to find an avenue to get your money back.

That said, this seems to be a trend. TAs on the WDW side of things are booking up blocks of ADRs. People at Disneyland have been buying up huge quantities of limited merchandise. It really makes it hard for the average person sometimes.

Could you go on Thursday night?

I hear you! The eBay prices for some of the Disney limited edition dolls is heart-attack inducing! I can't imagine what could be done to stop any of this, but I agree that it will probably be nicer for the OP and his family to go to a less crowded party anyway.

While I think the OP could enjoy a party earlier in the week, it probably won't be any less crowded. Most parties sell out, and sold out is sold out. I'm not aware that they sell more tickets on Halloween night.

Send a link to the auctions to Disney. This is against the rules & they can/will have the auctions removed. And if it is a passholder, that person could potentially lose their AP.

I can see where it would be an issue for an AP holder purchasing with a discount, but as a general rule unused (as these would be) Disney tickets can be resold.

Perhaps this is true for regular park tickets, but for MHP, the fine print stated: "Tickets may not be resold. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable." So in this case, technically, you cannot resell the tickets whether they've been used or not.

Wow i just took a look and these people are insane!!! The party is not worth that kind of money! It's barely worth what Disney is charging now a days! Geez!!!

OP I'm sorry you weren't able to get tickets for Halloween night. It stinks that people are out there scalping the way they are. I hope you and your girls can attend another party and have a blast!!

Interesting. I don't have one in hand yet. I just figured (apparently incorrectly) that it was the same as for regular park tickets.

That sure makes it tough for anyone who has something come up last minute.

But that's in no way defending what people are doing buying them up for the specific purpose of reselling them.

As far as I'm concerned, Disney needs to start printing names on these tickets and checking IDs. Problem solved.

I wish that tickets couldn't be resold for more than face value, too. Trust me, I feel you. I spent over $600 to buy two tickets to see my beloved Denver Broncos (which were resale tickets as it was impossible to buy them the moment they went on sale- trust me, I tried) and the seats are not that great. Luckily, Mile High is a great stadium and there really are no bad seats, but still. It's a total racket and it's unfair to people who want to attend events for a decent price when they have to compete with scalpers. Sorry, that's what they are to me.

Check everybody's name is simply not possible. It will take you forever to get in. What they can do is print the name on the ticket and take some people at random to check id's. This might work. On the other hand it's not the sellers problem but from the buyer so back to square 1.

@mom2rtk I once read that there not always sell the same amount of tickets and that it depends on which night you go. I know for sure it's that way in WDW. Last year been to 2 sold out Christmas Parties and 1 was way way more crowded then the other.

I used to work in the Disney store and eBay buyers are the WORST!! I honestly wish that Disney had a way of making it so people couldn't sell Disney licensed stuff on eBay for more than its retail value. Tickets should be illegal to be resold since I thought they weren't allowed to be resold.

Well, they're pretty secretive about how many tickets they sell, but I find it hard to believe that Disney would not want to maximize the number of tickets they sell on any given party night. I would hesitate to make assumptions based on how the park feels since crowds congregate differently on different nights.

I get what you say and it makes more sense then what I said :) But i'm not a 100% convinced. It has a lot to do with marketing I think.
People know halloween night will be busy and accept that even with the steep price. But they expect less crowds on anotherparty. That said you're story makes more sense.

I feel your pain, that was the night I wanted too, and couldn't pay until the day after they sold out :( I'd be fine if they went to families who wanted to go and I was just too late, but knowing a large amount went to people making profit bothers me.

MBlake1986 --

I'm going to guess that you have not been following along with the Halloween Time at DLR Superthread here on this forum, for updates on the ticket sellouts - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...een-night-mhp-sold-out.3270919/#post-51326911. Tickets for 10/31 actually sold out on Saturday, August 8th -- or that is the first date we became aware of sellouts. They may have even sold out late on 8/7. I've had a reference to Halloween night being sold out in the title of that thread ever since 8/8/15. I know it doesn't help your problem, but just know that the sellout dates are being watched/tracked.

If you had known about the sellout on 8/8/15, you might have been able to directly call Disneyland's ticket line on 8/9 or 8/10 and get your tickets for 10/31. Often times they still have a few tickets left to sell over the phone even after the website says the tickets are sold out. Now, 9 days later, I'm sure it's too late to get tickets for 10/31 over the phone. You can always try -- if you haven't tried already-- but I'm sure the 10/31 tickets are gone. You might also be able to score some tickets on the day of the event if you get to the ticket booth really early, but that is not guaranteed.

And there are NO ticket sales allowed here on this board, just in case anyone is getting any funny ideas about trying to sell the OP some tickets for 10/31. :goodvibes No sales of anything are allowed on this board.
