Despite what anyone says, these are NOT Christmas songs.

Already mentioned was My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music.

Other NOT Christmas songs:
Frosty the Snowman
Baby It’s Cold Outside
Winter Wonderland
Le Ti*s Now
Sleigh Ride

Jingle Bells-the parody version about Batman is more Christmasy than the original.

You can disagree all you want. That’s fine.

Just know that you’re wrong and I hate you. 😛

oddly, I was just talking to DH about this song yesterday and that I don’t think of it as a Christmas song.

The River. It may be “coming on Christmas “ but I don’t consider it a Christmas song. Pretty song but too sad.

Yeah, I don’t like how “Cold Weather” songs became associated with Christmas. 75% of the US population doesn’t experience a White Christmas, or even weather cold enough, yet they play Le Ti*s Now in Florida and LA in December.

I agree. This has been a pet peeve of mine for years. It’s really too bad that all winter songs get lumped in with Christmas. It makes more sense to play them in the middle of winter in January and February, where, at least here, it is typically colder and snowier than December.

Then there are some hymns commonly associated with Christmas. Like the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah, actually written for Easter; and Ave Maria, which is simply the Catholic prayer “Hail Mary” translated into Latin.

Another one often heard is the instrumental piece called “Linus and Lucy” by Vince Guaraldi. It first appeared in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, however was also in subsequent Peanuts TV specials and movies, and to me anyway, it’s more of a general theme song. Always wished I could play it on piano but my lessons never got to that level.
