I just got home from Celebration Hospital. I've had a sinus problem for awhile. I've already been on a couple of different antibiotics and had a bout with bronchitis. Last Friday, I came down with another bug (one of the joys of teaching school). Of course, it was a sinus thing.

Last Monday, I started having nosebleeds. Not bad ones. They only lasted a couple of minutes, but I had several each day. On Wednesday, I went to CentraCare and got a new antibiotic. The doctor told me that I had irritated something in my sinus passage, but it would pass. Well, it didn't.

Yesterday, I had a nosebleed that lasted for an hour before I got it stopped. Today, I bent over to take clothes out of the dryer and it started again. After and hour and a half, I was not having any success getting it stopped and I was feeling kind of lightheaded.

Now, I sit here with a thing like a tampon shoved up my nose. I get to keep this until tomorrow afternoon. I hope when they remove it that it doesn't start up again. If so, they will cauterize it. Yuck. Let me tell you. I would not recommend this thing called "the rino" unless absolutely necessary.

I do feel much better now. My blood pressure when I got to the hospital was pretty high for me. I think I was just pretty upset. They ran tests and saw no reason for the problem other than irritation.

Cross your fingers for me that tomorrow will be the end of this! It's a shame tonight isn't Halloween. I'm pretty scary to look at right now!

I hope you're doing better soon. Take care.

My fingers are crossed. Good luck tomorrow!

Sinus problems are a nightmare. I hope yours clears up soon. :wizard:

Hope you're feeling better. Sinus problems are no fun.

hang in there, things will get better

Oh can I sympathize. My DH has been having jaw pain since last week. It got so bad that I put his hiney in my car and took him to the ER over the weekend. The doc diagnosed him with cervical adenitis (:confused3 ). Well, he started his antibiotics and was sort of making some improvement and then he started to get worse. Today, I finally got him to our dentist and after xrays, DH has a simple sinus infection that went bad. Moral of the story, if you suspect it may be sinus...go to your dentist...seriously.

Bless your heart Peg.

A few yrs back, when we were vacationing in Alaska, DH accidently tripped on a curb, causing his neck to jerk and started a terrible nose bleed. He's had yrs of FAid with FDept so he did the usual to stop it, but OMG I have never seen so much blood from a nose!! Not for the weak at heart and was frightening! He hesitated going to a hospital he was not familiar with, but after 2 hrs of attemping it to stop, I drove him to the ER. He went thru the ER doors to a room full of patients and they rush him in with no questions asked! By then his BP had really rocketed, so they packed his nose immediately and had him rest awhile before attempting anything. Later they did several procedures, incl. cauterizing the vessel. Thankfully he has never had a nose bleed since!

Take care and I wish you luck sweetie. Hope they get to the bottom of your problems and have you feeling as good as new soon. :goodvibes

Good luck, sinus problems are the worst.

Talk to your doc. If your nasal passages are really dry, a humidifier might help. Also they have those saline nasal sprays to moisturize the area.
Ayr is one of them, they have the spray and the gel? Since your bleeding, I'd talk to your doc before trying anything new.

I found taking those zicame (sp?) helped ward off some sinus issues last winter from community keyboards in the lab at work. Once one person got sick, everyone passed it around as we were trying to integrate some equipment at work.

Oh Peggy, I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Sarah has nose bleeds that are pretty bad at times and the doctor has her put Vaseline in her nose so it won't be so dry. I hope you feel better soon.

I had to have my nose cauterized when I was about 10 - I was having constant nosebleeds-nothing helped. It never did solve the problem 100% and every year around this time I can get nosebleed really easily so I have to be careful.

Good luck!

It was a very miserable night. I had to sit up most of the night and my head really throbbed, but it did the trick. I went back this afternoon to the ER and they took out the packing. So far, so good. Of course, I'm almost afraid to move for starting it up again.

Thanks for all the well-wishes!

I hope you're feeling 100% soon. Sorry but I had to laugh at the tampon up your nose line. :rotfl:

Take it easy tonight!

glad to hear that your feeling better Peg. My youngest gets nosebleeds a lot and I think it's only a matter of time before we have to have something done.
