My husband is supposed to leave in 5 minutes to start his student teaching and finish his teaching degree. He has a nosebleed-the first I've ever known him to have in 30 years. He's leaning forward, gently pinching his nose. What else?

Lean back! not forward. and pinch up by the bridge of the nose. Hope he's over it by now. And good luck to him!

I get nosebleeds all the time since Iwas a toddler. This always works for me

get a match light it and blow it out.The sniff the smoke up the side that is bleeding.. It will taste bad but it works.(if it is a really bad bleed it may take a couple of times to stop it.)

Do not lean back! That can cause choking and aspiration. Try an ice pack on the nose as well.

:confused3 I've never choked? But thanks for that info I will stop leaning back! I don't want to choke!

You want to lean forward to allow the blood to go out not into your stomach. Also you want to pitch the nostrils tightly not gently for 10 minutes. It should stop. If not pitch for 10 more minutes if it does not stop you should call a doctor.

I have a bleeding disorder and use to suffer noise bleeds often. Thankfully they are not as common but I have had many trips to the emergency room.

They used to recommend leaning back, but found that with the bloodflow going into the back of the throat caused choking and vomiting(blood can irritate the stomach lining) Also, never lie down with a nosebleed. You want your head above your heart.
