Nory Report III: In the Third Person! After 3 Years, the Final Update! NEW 2/6

I was doing the "side B, side B, side B" chant my last trip too! (well, especially since I wanted to concerve my steps, no meandering to other parts of the airport!)

I don't drink coffee, so I'm not sure how you were able to contain the Disney manic excitement that hits (well, at least me) as soon as the plane touches down and stop somewhere en route to ME! I mean, you should have seen me when DBF wanted to make a stop at the bathroom ("you waited until NOW???").

I'm horrible. I know. :rotfl:

Wonderful update.

And :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for giong the right way to the ME this time. I wouldn't have a clue as to where it is because we never use it. :rotfl2:

And my kind of gal....gotta have that Starbucks no matter what! I lost track how many times my good friend Nicki and I stopped when I was in Florida the first week of April. ;)
I think you'd probably find the ME line, no problem. It really only becomes a challenge when you've slept for less than three hours! :rotfl:

See, I knew if I didn't get that caffeine, I'd be too zoned to properly appreciate the Disney excitement! I should really break the addiction. It would be very liberating. :thumbsup2

(oh, and I made a bathroom stop, too. but I figured my TR didn't need quite that level of detail!)

I was completely intrigued by the tag in your signature and had to come and check this out. Happy I caught this so early. :thumbsup2 Great start and it is fun to read something a bit different. :goodvibes

Please congratulate Nory for me on finding ME. I struggle with that one too.

Hmmm, what resort could it possibly be that Nory had never heard of?

:welcome: I'll have to check yours out, too!

It seriously drives me nuts that I don't know the answer to that!

You do not! You were the one who taught me my mantra... "B and Down" "B and Down" "B and Down".....

And tell Nory, that I repeated that mantra all the way there AFTER repeating a WAY more important one. "Where's the bathroom?" "Where's the bathroom?" "Where's the bathroom?" Tim had given me a Dunkin card where I partook of a pre-flight coffee (large, thank you) and was floating only half way through the flight.

OMG, having you guys tell me to tell Nory things is even more confusing than writing that way was! :rotfl:

(And yes, Liesa, finding the bathroom even before Side B was my priority, too. I think in my first TR, I told people to mentally insert "bathroom break" before and after every ride, meal, or transportation of any kind. And, unfortunately, it still holds true!)

I wish I had been born with different genetics sometimes. (Leave it alone, Glenn!) MY TBS, really gets in the way sometimes. In fact, I should really write to UG to tell them to have a special touring plan JUST for those of us who can't seem to "hold it together".

I really enjoyed reading your first 2 posts, I'd love to read the rest! Thank you for posting!:)

:rotfl: You totally should! It could include a special, wallet-sized map pointing out the closest bathroom to every ride, restaurant, etc. (I can see it now: "If you can hold it for fifteen minutes and could use a little peace and quiet, try taking the raft to TSI. The secluded restroom in Fort Langhorn is a real hidden gem, and one of the least-used in the entire Magic Kingdom!")

:welcome: And I promise more on Thursday (silly work tomorrow)!

What, another update already? Nory you have proven yourself!

I've never flown to Orlando so I am clueless about what is where. But I'm glad you made it to side B which apparently is important to the ME.

Oh, Starbucks and the bathroom are priorities!:thumbsup2 There's a Starbucks in my neighborhood and I can be there in under 5 minutes should the mood strike me (which it does frequently!)

So what resort hadn't you heard of? Was it the military one?

Looking forward to the next installment, great job Nory!:thumbsup2

A few months ago, the broad outlines for a children’s novel, set in Disney World, had popped into her mind: a girl finds a secret passage into the castle, only to discover it’s being taken over by some sort of grand Evil, which the girl must defeat not only to save the Magic Kingdom, but to keep the true meaning of all fairy tales from being destroyed forever.

Oooh! I like! I can't wait to hear more!!!

:rotfl: Love that! Have you heard of the iPhone app called "Have2P" (or something like that?) it shows you to the nearest public bathroom!

Nory-loving the report so far. Reading it from the 3rd party perspective is nice for a change, great idea! I'm so curious to know what that other resort could have been...I've never heard of the ME's stopping at a DTD resort! :confused3 How bizarre!

Still no idea! It wasn't Shades of Green...at least I would've recognized that one. :confused3

Hi, Brook! :wave2:

I guess now the identity of the mystery resort will just torture us all! It suddenly occurs to me...maybe the bus driver was making a joke of some kind? Or maybe it was so dead that they agreed to take some family-in-desperate-transportation need to an off-route hotel? Would they ever do such a thing?

I just want you to know that between jumping to catch up on all of my subscribed threads and catching up on my own PTR, I've been pulling my hair out (well, not literally) trying to figure out the mystery resort. Could it have been the Animation Suites which aren't open yet?

Oh no, don't tear out too much hair! :rotfl:

The more I think about it, the more I go back to the DTD hotel idea...even though I don't remember the name itself, I do remember it sounded just kind of boring and typical hotel-y, not Disney hotel-y.

It's official: I'm going to Disneyland! For the first time ever! I am so excited!

And it's all thanks to Brook. Thanks for the Disney enabling, Brook!

It's only for one night, unfortunately, but considering how far away CA is, I'll take what I can get! My baby sister's wedding shower (yes, let me pause for a moment and sigh over the fact that my baby sister is getting married -- where did the time go? etc.) is the weekend of May 20, so all of us sisters (there are four of us) were planning on flying out there on Thursday so we could have a sisters' spa day on Friday before the actual shower on Saturday.

Brook gave me the clever idea -- why not squeeze a quick Disney fix in there?

So now I'm flying out on Wednesday, on the earliest flight I could get, meaning I'll arrive around 10. I'll check into the Grand Californian (here's fuzzy Disney math for you: with their current discounts, the GCH was only $50 more than Paradise Pier, their cheapest hotel, and I figured since this is quite likely the only time in my whole life I'll go to DL, isn't it worth a little splurge? plus I just got a promotion of sorts at work, so that justifies it, right? ;)), then head straight out to the parks.

I don't really care if I don't get to ride much that day -- I'll use FPs as much as I can, and it is off season, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad. But I'll probably focus more on photography and just experiencing something different! I'll probably get very, very tired at some point with the time difference, so it'll be an early night in the hotel (another good reason for the splurge).

This actually works great for one of my other sisters, who's flying in on a red-eye from Hawaii and arriving at 5 AM on Thursday. She wasn't sure what she'd do with herself that day, and now she can come sleep in my hotel room! She may or may not join me in the park, we'll see how she feels.

The next morning is a Magic Morning, so I'll be able to hit DL an hour early and hopefully ride anything I missed on Wednesday. Then in the afternoon we'll taxi over to my sister's apartment.

Of course, it totally galls me to have to buy a 2-day park hopper when I have a perfectly good WDW AP in my wallet!

I think you'll really like DL! I went for the first time last summer, but only for a day. It was overwhelming because I tried to do BOTH Disneyland and California Adventure. Are you planning to do both? In retrospect, I wish I'd have spent most of my time just at DL. Though I did have my three DD's too so maybe that's why I felt overwhelmed!

For me, it was really special to see the original Disney theme park, you know? I felt like a kid in a candy store...I didn't know what to look at first! It's pretty cool though and I'd just read one of my Walt biographies beforehand too. When we were walking down Main Street, I remembered reading how on opening day, the asphalt was still warm and lots of ladies had their high heels sinking into it!

I was totally surprised by how much larger Toontown is there too. And Space Mountain is totally different! They have two seater cars. Crazy I tell you! My sister took her four year old son on it thinking it won't be bad but it was fast! And he screamed bloody murder the whole time we rode! Poor baby, I'm sure he's scarred for life now.

Hey, are you going to incorporate your little trippie into this TR?? Pretty please??:goodvibes

I thought I'd spend my morning coffee time right here with Nory!! WHat a treat to get to go to DLR for a day and a half! Love it! I"m so excited for you to get to stay at the GC too!! Make sure to pop into the Blue Bayou to say hello to my old stomping grounds. So many memories...:cloud9:
