Does anyone ever sit through the movies when the ride it over? I will admit that we sometimes will if we need a break and are hot but most often the people walk right through the movie and get the heck outta there

Epcot is so big, no time for movies, We did see the movie in Cananda, very good

i never watch the movie i just pass right through it i like to ride the ride but i don't want to sit through a movie. any of the movies that epcot has i pass up.

I'll admit I love the movie!

My grandparents were from Norway, came over just after they were married. I have always wanted to go, but Epcot is as close as I've ever gotten.

So I ride the "somewhat too lame for a fast pass" ride, watch the movie and wander through the gift shop -- admiring all the sweaters, Christmas ornaments and even the Trolls -- every single time... and dream!

We always do the ride, but not always the movie. It's one of the good ones because you can sit. The only one we do regularly is Impressions de France. We love hearing, "France...the most fertile land in all of Europe."

I watch it every time. It's part of the whole experience.

It's the people who just walk through the movie who we have to thank for the death of the classic Epcot attractions (World of Motion, Horizons, etc.). People have no patience or attention span to enjoy things any more, they just have to power through to the next thing. Slow down and enjoy the parks!!!

Sorry, I'll step down off my soap box now. :)

We don't watch the movie. It is not that I don't have the attention span to watch the movie, my children don't. I think of it as doing the rest of the guests who want to enjoy the movie a favor. They must have many people who don't watch the movie because the CM gave everyone an option on whether to see the film or not this past trip. Maybe in the few years we will be able to watch it again (haven't seen it since 2000).

I have never stopped to watch the movie. It's not the lack of attention; I can piddle and meander with the best of them. It usualy takes me forever to get out of the gift shop. But I just haven;t yet felt like sitting down and watching a movie after I ride Maesltrom :confused3 . If I am reading my own actions correctly, I am more interested in something more interactive. I have seen the movies at China and Canada, but not a Norway or France.

I love the Norway movie. It makes me want to go there :)

When DW and I were there this past August, we attempted to watch the movie, along with a smattering of others, as most people did just walk through to the exit. DW and I sat in our seats for maybe ten minutes but the film never started. As it was our first time experiencing Maelstrom, we're to this day not sure if they were just waiting (in vain?) for more people to fill the theatre before they actually started the film, or if there were just technical difficulties. We even briefly wondered if the movie was a thing of the past. I'd still love to know what happened, as DW and I were very interested in seeing the movie. :confused3

We love the movie. Everytime I see it I say, I want to go to Norway!

I wonder why they didn't put the movie in so that you watch it before you ride. In this sense, people would view it as entertainment while they wait in line (like ToT, RnR, Dinosaur, etc.). I like the movie and usually watch it. However, I think it is easy for many groups to get frusterated after they get off the boat to wait to get out of the building. People aren't used to waiting AFTER a ride. This could contribute to the lack of interest....people may be a little irritated by the time they pass through the theater.

I'll admit....DM and I are usually those people who walk straight out after the ride....however on our last trip we decided to give the movie a chance and are very glad we did. It was a very nice film and made us really want to go to Norway! Also made me want to see more of the Epcot films, although we always wind up missing the showing times when we're in WS :confused3

You couldn't pay me to sit through that borefest. But I heard they are changing it.

I know DH and I saw the movie years ago when we went on our own before having kids. Could not tell you about the movie to save my life. We actually watched ALL of the movies in WS on that trip!!! Needless to say, we were on overload by the end and felt a little sick after the film in China.

We love to watch the movie (even dd!!) but I agree with above poster - I get annoyed getting off the boat, usually the first to unload, and have to wait!! and wait,, and wait, and wait (is it 4 or 5 boats that unload - then the doors open... then the movie!) :happytv:

but then you have to wait for at least 3 more boats to unload....

yep, its the waiting...

of course like someone else posted, you do have to wait in the other countries too - but you dont feel quite so much like a hostage!!!

Hey, did someone say this is a FASTPASS ride!! :confused3

:lmao:

Sorry, but I've seen the movie a few times and that's all I need. There are movies and attractions that I can sit through, time and time again. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them. I'd rather stroll through the gift shop and drool over the Dale of Norway sweaters!

I never watch the movie, but on my last trip I sat down to watch it and it took forever to start, people kept coming in and bypassing the movie, others got tired of waiting and left and we followed them. If it wouldn't have taken forever we would have stayed.

We've seen every WS movie, and we re-view all of them each visit EXCEPT Norway's -- DS (now 8) was really disturbed by it on our first trip (he was 5 then). Of all the movies, we were only disappointed with Norway's -- for such a beautiful country with a rich history, we found the film really off-putting and agreed that it was not good for young children. I respect that other adults enjoy it, but we're hoping they do update it soon and make it less jarring so that kids can enjoy it, too.
