Norway Is A "Frozen" Mess!

Something (actually several things, really) needs to be done with this situation. They need to move the meet & greet loaction from Norway to somewhere with more space. The WOL pavilion or the Odyssey are excellent ideas and make tons of sense - so neither will ever happen. They also need to add an additionl meet & greet in one of the other parks until the madness dies down (which probably won't be until we are past the holiday season and are into 2015). The status quo does not work for anyone... be it Disney, guests who want to meet Anna & Elsa, or the guests that don't even want to meet them but just want to enjoy the Norway pavilion.

Use the old Odyssey building or the one that was built during the millenium between Canada and the UK. :thumbsup2

This used to be my favorite pavilion in all of Epcot. You could stroll into the gift shop and look around at leisure, while the smell of Laila filled the area. You could wander through the church looking at the Viking artifacts without any problem (if that's your thing). It was a pleasant way to spend some time at World Showcase.

Then Anna and Elsa showed up......

Don't get me wrong, I am not a hater of these lovely Scandinavian ladies. However, their popularity has turned the once quaint Norway Pavilion into a steaming mass of sweaty humanity. My wife and daughter were just over there yesterday and said you could not tell apart the lines from the meet and greet and Maelstrom. People were jammed into the pavilion square like herring during a spawn. And good luck trying to browse in the gift shop.

It seems pretty obvious that Disney has under estimated the popularity of Frozen.

Get Anna and Elsa out of there and give me back my Norway, the way it used to be.

Let's start with the "movie" Update it for goodness sakes!!
Give us an ice rink-:upsidedow in Florida, oh how cool would that be:upsidedow
Get those other princess' out of Akerhaus and keep Elsa and Anna in, along with Kristoff and OLAF
Make MAELSTROM the ride it deserves to be:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'll all for it!!!!

Someone may have said this but are they close to Akershus?

Yes, they are in the storefront directly across from the entrance to the restaurant. I read somewhere else that people are even making 8 or 9am reservations for the restaurant so they can be in the are prior to park opening and start lining up then, paying the no-show fee for the restaurant. I suppose they'd rather wait 3 hours early in the morning as opposed to 3 hours later in the day. :confused3

The last time I was there with my folks we heard a lot of numbers being tossed in the line between 2 and 7 hours. I'm sure the latter was a little exaggerated but it was total chaos. There were lines wrapping around the shop that were cut off with more people lined up down behind the bakery and past the Agent P station back towards Mexico. They'd let a few families at a time join the queue inside the pavilion but it looked like some folks didn't realize what was going on and just hopped in the 2nd queue. We weren't sure what was the line for the M&G and what was the line for the Maelstrom ride which is all we wanted to do when we got there right around 11am when the M&G started, because it was a mass of people.

Well I just made 8:20 breakfast reservations for a group on 9 on Easter Saturday . No way I am paying a no show fee for 9! I do think my little niece might want to go get in line with her dad, or perhaps we might just enjoy watching the rope droppers running toward Norway. I just thought it would be fun for my in laws to experience all the excitement!

It really does take away from the atmosphere, and the beautiful church was encircled with people the entire day. From across the lake you just see a mob of people over there. It does take away from the look and feel of Norway

We were just there and though I feel for the people who feel they must wait in line for 5-6 hours (we only had a 25 min wait tops-- we scored big time!), I see it as a boon for Norway. The several times we've ever been there, other than the Akershus food people, no one ever visited Norway. I'll bet more people have been on Maelstrom in the past 3 months than in the history of the pavilion. More people are visiting the bakery and church than ever!

True, but if you can't GET to the Maelstrom line or can't GET into the gift shop, what's the point? Disney makes no money from people who can't spend it.

Apologies if this has already been said, but last summer there was an area for meeting Duffy near the entrance to WS...we always commented on how that was one character that didn't have any or many people queuing to see him. It was a spacious area...surely somewhere perfect to be themed to two popular characters?

Sounds like it would've been huge. Probably not enough room

We've always seen plenty of people in Norway so I don't get the comment that no one went there. Some of the other pavilions are usually way quieter when we go.

I agree. My family loves this pavilion. We enjoy the Maelstrom ride and love the bakery here. We also prefer Akershus character breakfast to CRT.

Olaf had an ice rink in Downtown Disney at DLR during the holidays.

Agreed, it's a complete mess. We were there in early December. The crowds and temperatures were low (comparatively), and it was still a crowded mess. It was really warm in the line too, as it's in full sunlight. It's going to be an absolute disaster during the summer, with huge crowds and boiling hot temperatures.

They could at least move Anna and Elsa into Akershus, or make the M&G FP+ enabled, or SOMETHING. Especially if they do decide to overlay Maelstrom and make the crowds even worse.

There's no way they will put them in a restaurant and make it so the only way to see them is to pay. The restaurant is almost always booked now. Can you imagine the complaints from Guests unable to get reservations to the only spot to see them?

I'd bet you are completely wrong.

More people are definitely visiting the church than normal, and maybe the bakery.

I doubt Maelstrom is seeing a much higher rider throughput than normal. The line may be a bit longer now, but the ride was rarely a walk on.
