Norway Is A "Frozen" Mess!

I was in EPCOT a few weeks ago and the Norway Pavilion was indeed a huge mess. Add in Gier Ness (creator of Laila perfume for those who don't know) being there as well and you REALLY had a mess!!

With the Maelstrom line, the Akershus line, the Anna & Elsa line, the Bakery line and the Gier Ness line, it was wall to wall people and we couldn't even get in-anywhere! Sadly, I couldn't even make it to the Norway store so we skipped Norway altogether.

Why not temporarily make a nice background ans queue at the a Wonders of Life pavilion?

I so hope that Disney is really working on this. We used to spend a lot of time (and money) in Norway but now it's a miserable place. I try to hit the café but then we leave.

Why not change Akershus to a Frozen meal and put a princess meet and greet in MK too? Then those of us who are there to actually enjoy Norway might be able to at least walk through the place.

I really enjoy the Norway pavilion and it was the only place I bought merchandise last trip. I do hope a solution is found or the lines slow considerably by October.

There is a spot in the WS Pavillion, just off to the right of the IG if you are facing it that is often gated off, but on select days is open and has some of the most random and plentiful character meets available. I posted about it once, and someone here told me that is where they bring trainees for their first tests as characters, and being obscure characters to test their popularity. They could easily decorate that area, and it has the advantage of a backstage CM entrance right there for quick switch outs during shift change and break time. I can't figure out why they didn't put them there, or the area by the African Outpost on the corner between China and Germany.

Norway was always our favorite, too. I don't want crowds there.

Snow Queen was written by a Dane. Maybe move the Frozen gals next to Germany?

Or better yet, our least favorite spot, the U.S. This winter has been so cold that it fits. ;)

Scandinavia consists of Finland, Norway, Sweden, and DENMARK. So if they want to go with Scandinavia they would be better suited in Norway than Germany.

I'm sure the sales in the Norway store are going to be way down. In November we couldn't get into the store at all.

I say put them in Akershus Restaurant. You have to eat there first then on your way out you get to meet them.

The hottest RUMOR has Merida moving to Princess Fairytale Hall and the Cold Ones taking her spot in Fairytale Gardens.:)

Not sure where you heard this rumor, but I hope to goodness it isn't true. When Rapunzel was in Fairytale Garden, the lines topped out around an hour, and that walkway was a mess. Plus, it's in the hot, blazing sun for most of the day. Ugh. Having them there would be a disaster, and really makes no sense.

I agree with the OP. I LOVE the Norway pavilion, it's by far one of my favorites in WS, and I also love the movie Frozen. However, the meet & greet is just not working in its current space. I think they should find a spot in Magic Kingdom for Anna and Elsa. I have also heard rumors of a Frozen overlay for Maelstrom, and while I think a Frozen attraction would be a great idea, I just don't think it fits in WS.

Agreed, it's a complete mess. We were there in early December. The crowds and temperatures were low (comparatively), and it was still a crowded mess. It was really warm in the line too, as it's in full sunlight. It's going to be an absolute disaster during the summer, with huge crowds and boiling hot temperatures.

They could at least move Anna and Elsa into Akershus, or make the M&G FP+ enabled, or SOMETHING. Especially if they do decide to overlay Maelstrom and make the crowds even worse.

Also, there continues to be a lot of "buzz" that Malestrom will "possibly" be themed to Frozen.:)

Oh please no. Don't lose the trolls!

And Olaf saying "yoo are not de first to pass dis vey, nor sholl yoo be de last" - no way.

So sad that lines have become the decoration at WDW as of late (between this and the lines for off site FP+). Norway is so pretty... I will hate to see it like that. We have a 8:00am (pre-park opening) ADR at Akershus on our trip, I am hoping we can time it correctly and score a spot a the front of the line, if they are still meeting there at that time. There is NO WAY we are going to stand in line over an hour for a character, I don't care who it is.

Agreed. If things were perfect, they would have their own little area. There would be snow on the ground and they would be housed in a mini replica of the ice palace. Once you entered the queue, you would be entertained by Olaf (like Mr. Potato Head in TSMM) and Sven. It'd be amazing if they could find a way to add this to AK. Have something else to do there.

Anna and Elsa are very popular. Why not give them a fabulous space where the lines can be dealt with more efficency.

While Norway suits them, I think more space is the key.

Hey. Great idea. There's that whole pavillion over in FW (Wonders of Life) just sitting empty.;)

I don't miss the Laila, ha. But this is not the place to contain an enormously popular meet and greet. They need to move the ladies somewhere with more space.

What about the area to the left of the pavillion, where the Viking Ship is/was?
Wouldn't there be space enough over there?

This used to be my favorite pavilion in all of Epcot. You could stroll into the gift shop and look around at leisure, while the smell of Laila filled the area. You could wander through the church looking at the Viking artifacts without any problem (if that's your thing). It was a pleasant way to spend some time at World Showcase.

Then Anna and Elsa showed up......

Don't get me wrong, I am not a hater of these lovely Scandinavian ladies. However, their popularity has turned the once quaint Norway Pavilion into a steaming mass of sweaty humanity. My wife and daughter were just over there yesterday and said you could not tell apart the lines from the meet and greet and Maelstrom. People were jammed into the pavilion square like herring during a spawn. And good luck trying to browse in the gift shop.

It seems pretty obvious that Disney has under estimated the popularity of Frozen.

Get Anna and Elsa out of there and give me back my Norway, the way it used to be.
