Northwest - Not always Bad. ARGH -Inconsistent

I checked our December flights today on Northwest and our flight to Orlando had been changed to almost 30 minutes later. I was already considering trying to fly standby on an ealier flight so we could check in earlier and make our PS at Whispering Canyon. So I wasn't happy to see this later arrival time.

I called and they said I could switch to the ealier flight - NO CHARGE!! Unheard of for NWA.

Now we will arrive at 2:27 instead of 5:43. Plenty of time to check in and make our 7:20 PS.

I've done this many times without a charge. Based on my experience (never been refused when the new schedule caused a problem), I don't agree with the "Unheard of" comment. Glad you were able to make the change.

I'm glad to see not everyone hates Northwest. It makes me so sad to see people complain about them since my Father is a pilot for them.All I can say is keep flying NW so my Dad still has a job.

Megan.... I know no one is bashing your dad personally. I am not a Northwest person simply because NWA takes advantage of the people of Minnesota. We are charged super high fares to fly anywhere. The state of MN has bailed NWA out many times financially, but they still don't seem to "pay back" the very state that has helped them. That is where I think a lot of the complaints come from.......

When I have had to fly NWA, the service was excellent...... a high school friends dad flies for NWA as well...

I've never flown Northwest, so my opinion may change, but right now, I'm LOVING NORTHWEST!!! I got a discount coupon in the mail for my jan cruise with airfare 45% less than the current going price. I got the discount and am able to fly out of my medium sized city instead of having to drive 3 hours to fly out of a big city. Plus the flight times are exactly what I wanted. Hopefully that won't change. But, right now, I'm sitting on cloud 9.

Northwet, glad to hear you got your times changed and those are good times. Say, did you know NW has a direct flight from RST to Detroit now, if you are ever going that way. No need to go to MSP.

Megan, on my last NW flight in Augst coming from Pensacola, we had the most awesome pilot. Flight was delayed due to weahter, and the pilot came into the gate area and apologized for the delay.!

Then he started telling jokes, and make everyone laugh. Then, he asked if there was anything he could do for anyone! Unheard of. Then, once during the flight, he came back and gave the passengers a verbal riddle to work on so we wouldn't be "bored'. It was a good flight, to say the least.

Thanks for the post. I know people are not bashing my Father. I have had good and bad expericenes on all different Airlines. I was just joking around. I used to have friends in school who's Father's worked for different Airlines and we would bash eachother Airlines. It was just a joke but I should have made that clear. I do enjoy reading good things though. Oh yea, that flight with the great Pilot it had to be my fathers flight. Ha Ha just kidding.

Now I'm frustrated with NWA again.

I called today to change my SIL flight times to the same as our. Same change I made yesterday - They wouldn't do it!!!!

They said it shouldn't have been done yesterday and wouldn't change the rest of our party's reservations.

AAAAARGH!!!!!

Now we have two arrival times. I should have changed hers yesterday but wanted to verify it with her before making the change.

I don't know if I should try again later - hoping that I get a different agent that will do the change. Any advice?

Call back tomorrow or the next day and ask for a Supervisor. Explain again that you are traveling together and would they please make the change for your entire party. Be very polite (I'm sure that you are anyway) and ask that they make the exception for everyone traveling with you. If that doesn't work, you might consider asking them to put your family back the way it was if that is better than the current situation.

There might be a note on your reservation about this second conversation re your SIL - that's why I suggested you ask for a Supervisor and basically "throw yourself on the mercy of the court"
