Northwest Flight Question

Unfortunately, we're not going to WDW this year, but heading west to South Dakota (Black Hills/Badlands end of June, beginning of July.)

Of course, one of FAVORITE music guys decides to tour at the same time (why he didn't check w/us first is beyond me:). We were going to get home to PHL to 'maybe' make the beginning of his concert, but now - Northwest has changed the flight times and instead of an earlier flight home, it's changed to about 1.5 hours later - we would have NO hope of getting to his concert at all.

There is an earlier flight from Rapid City to Philly that day - if we change flights, it will cost another $200. I understand them's the breaks, etc. BUT seatcounter.com currently shows the earlier flight wide open. If this were you - would you take your chances and try to get on standyby by just showing up at the airport for the earlier flight that morning (costing $0) or just go for the 'sure thing', make the change and then hope that the earlier flight doesn't get cancelled?

Any opinions/advice welcome. Thanks!!

If you're wondering - the concert is Morrissey - he's an absolutely brilliant performer/writer and has a kick-a** band!!

I'm not a frequent flyer so I maybe totally offbase here, but are you sure it would cost you to get the earlier flight? I recently had a trip booked not with NWA, but Sun Country and they canceled my return flight and wanted to book us on a different flight that wouldn't work. Since it didn't work out they refunded our money back.

Thanks, Corie. I'm not a FF myself, but the flight was cancelled and changed to a later date. I'll try calling Northwest and see what they can do. Never hurts to ask, does it?

Thanks for the help!!

Well, I called Northwest & was sprinkled w/massive amounts of pixie dust!! The nice woman I spoke with changed our flights (free of charge) to a much earlier one to make sure we get to our concert on time!! How nice is that!!:cool1:
