Northwest changed my flight times...

Yes of course you will! Impossible connection times are anything less than 40 minutes. I am sure you will have PLENTY of time!

You didn't state when your trip is....but Northwest loves to change schedules.

My december trip on Northwest has changed about 10 times and they have even re-routed us once.

45 minutes can be cutting it close.

Detroit isn't that big of an airport. 45 minutes is plenty of time. I wouldn't get worried until I was under 20 minutes at all but the very largest airports--ORD, DFW, LAX for example.

If there is an earlier flight NWA will allow you to change it - NO CHARGE. I just did this for another flight because they had moved the times back almost 30 minutes.

Northwest isn't the only airline that loves to change schedules! US Air just moved my Thanksgiving flight back to 6 AM, when their website shows another flight just 5 minutes different from my original flight time. They gave us 40 minutes to change in Charlotte, which should be OK at 7:30 AM.
