Northwest Airlines and refunds?

My flight partner passed away in October and I had purchased our tickets (non-refundable) in July for this year. I received a refund for his ticket, however they won't refund mine. I know this sounds silly but I don't want to travel without him. Maybe I'll feel different later. I wrote to NWA but they declined my request for a refund of my ticket. Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do? I wish they would at least let me reschedule without the $100 fee.

I don't think there's much else you can do. They refunded your partner's ticket as he had died. I am not trying to be mean here at all, but when you purchased the ticket, you agreed to the terms - non-refundable.

It is too bad that you are stuck with a ticket, but is there anyone else you can travel with?

I guess the best thing you can do at this point, is write them a letter explaining your situation and ask that they consider waiving the $100 change fee. It might not work, but that's probably the best avenue for you at this point.

Winston..I see that you have already wrote one letter.
Whom did you get the response from?? You may want to ask to correspond with that person's supervisor and ask again-explaining the sitution.
They may not have to refund the ticket for you but who knows...someone with the descretion to do so may decide to go ahead under the circumstances.

While you might get lucky, I would NOT waste a ton of time on this. The airlines have really tightened the rules. (I was actually pleasntly surprised they refunded the other fare, it does not sound like them lately!)
