My mom may be coming with us to WDW in mid-October. I've read that the weather in Florida is nice. My problem is my mom HATES THE HEAT! She's very uncomfortable in the summer months up here. We've been in September and I too found it pretty hot - bordering uncomfortable. Is October that much better? I just want to realistically warn my mom. Mom also is too self-conscious to wear shorts (always been my whole life), and will be wearing pants the whole time. I know there's no guarantees obviously  , just looking for some feedback.

Thanks!

I was at Disney this past October (23rd - 27th) and thought the weather was perfect. Low 80's with low humidity and no rain. But it sounds like that may still be too much for your Mom, maybe late Nov - Jan would be better?

Thanks for your quick reply! We actually have to go in October b/c I want to use my AP before it expires. My mom may or may not decide to come (really hoping she does though)!

We've been twice in October. In 1999, it was pretty cool--60's and breezy. In 2002, it was pretty hot a couple of days--right around 90. However, both trips we had very little rain and lots of sunshine. Honestly, I'd take the warmer weather. It's nicer for swimming, and the parks at night (for the party) are much more pleasant.

Went the last week in Oct/ first week in Nov. Very HUMID!! Temps were in the upper 80's everyday. I loved it. But it was the thick heavy hot. Not real sunny though.

Not a Northerner--but I am a Floridian who is very heat/humidity intolerant--When I go to the parks in September, I go in the evening only--even that can be too hot!

October is generally much more pleasant. I wouldn't hesitate to schedule a trip in October. Temperature is unpredictable, but even if it's in the 80s, it's generally much drier and breezier than September.

We were at WDW in October of 2002, the last week of the month. It was very hot and humid.....high 90's each day and almost every day we had a midafternoon thunderstorm. We thought it would be cooler at that time of year for my dad who has been breathing problems...it was not!!!

In the 3rd week of Oct, last year, we found that most days were Okay.. HOT but okay... A few days were REALLY HOT, and we caved and got those 18 dollars spray fans, 6 dollar wrapy things for around your neck..
But it didnt rain on us once.. :)
BTW We are in NY, and Mom is in Minnasota..

Im with the others ( and from Massachusetts!). I was there in Oct. 2002, and it was HOT!!!!! We needed the spray bottles and the neck wrap thingies. And the Pool. We also thought that October would be much cooler, but for some reason that year, it wasn't. The Floridians said it was unusually hot. So, my advice is: go, but also be prepared that it may be hotter than you expect and with that in mind, have a game plan in mind to cool off.

We were in Disney October 20th - 27th 2003, and typically we like to go after the normal summer vacation, because of lower crowds and temps. I must say that it was hotter and more humid than expected. Temps were in mid to upper 80's for most of the week, and the parks were more crowded than expected. Then again, the previous trip was in November and we had no wait times and temps were in mid-70s. Just drink lots of water, eat some ice cream, and take it easy. So although temps/crowds happened to be higher on our recent trip, I still believe that it still doesn't compare to the summer months in Disney. Enjoy !

Y'know one idea for your mom, is to bring some long loose no sleeve cotton dresses. I hate shorts (my legs are whiter than snow) so I always wear cotton dresses when it's hot. They really keep me cool!::yes::

Also, when it's hot and the sun is out, I always wear a hat of some sort. I'm someone who HATES the heat, but when I wear a hat, it helps SO MUCH!

We've been to WDW twice from 10/31 through the first week of November.

In 2000 the weather was PERFECT, low to mid 80s and low humidity.

Last year 2003 it was a little warmer and more humid (see Kilee's earlier report!). I heard a couple CMs say it was warmer than it normally is that time of year.
