Quick question: Do you guys wear the lanyards around the ship? I hate to be a party pooper, but we have a ton of these things and never wear them. On our ABD trip last month the guides gave them out the first night and not one of the 32 in the group ever wore theirs. They even gave out a new pin each day to put on it. But still no one wore them. But if everyone wants to do this, I will donate to the cause. I just don't think you will ever see Steve or me wear one. I guess I could hang them from our fish or somewhere on the door.

:flower3: I hope that doesn't make anyone mad. The only time I wear lanyards is when I am forced to at a conference or such.

Scott posted a link to it at the top of this page.

Thanks very much! I didn't realize that was up there.

 When we went on our ABD trip no one wore the lanyards either. I think it has something to do with the pins can easily fall off. We were warned by our guides to keep the pins in our hotel room since they don't have extras if lost. That's my guess considering no one wore them on our trip either.

These lanyards are nothing like the regular DCL ones. The are very thin and soft with our "cruise name" printed on them. I hate necklaces but these I never even know I have it on. Gives you somewhere for your key and also anyone on the disboards knows who you are since your name is also there. You would not put pins on it, pins are too big. Some people chose not to wear them. It is your choice.

VIRGIL - what time will you be in Morgantown Thursday? I've got your # packed and may give you a call tomorrow night to see where we can meet for a couple of minutes. It would be nice if you could warm the weather up for us!

:woohoo: Welcome! This will be Jamie's graduation present from high school also! She graduates on June 3 (hopefully, I'm crossing my fingers). We will fly out the morning of the 4th, to get to Barcelona in time to get on the ship on the 5th headed to Dover! I'm crossing my fingers that graduation is on the 3rd and not the 4th! I know there is no way we can miss high school graduation.

I checked flight schedules on Delta for going from Salt Lake City to Barcelona, and we can definitely make it. Also, Salt Lake City does have a direct flight each day (right now at least) to Paris, so we could always hit that flight. When I was at the airport last month taking a flight to Orlando (imagine that), they gate agent was trying to get 2 volunteers to take a bump for $1,200 each to fly to Paris the next day. I was wishing I was on that flight so I could have scored the $1,200!

Anyway, I'll be using FF miles, so I'll book immediately as the booking window opens next year. It seems so far away!

Book quickly! I used Delta miles for the Med trip last year and it was a nightmare. I was trying for business class though, so that might make a difference. DM and I called each morning for about a week before we finally got something somewhat close to what we wanted.

This is like a reunion cruise!

Who wants to do lanyards? Where's Ken and Kelly when we need them? I will definitely contribute but there is no way anyone would want what I could come up with!

I'll contribute too but we need a Kelly or Ken to coordinate :thumbsup2

Tammy - I send you lots of prayers!! Looking forward to meeting you and your family on the cruise. You are amazing!:flower3:

All - I do not mind coordinating the lanyards and possibly silicone bracelets for the trip. I will need help (finanacially and getting them to the port).

I should have read a little further before my last post :thumbsup2

27 pages to get caught up on.....

some thoughts

- it seems like there are enough of the "ship of thieves' crew to pirate this cruise as well....and it seems more are joining us every day :cool1:

Nancy and I wll be celebrating our 25 year together on July 2nd......if our plans go as planned. we'll still be in Europe.

Any of our British cast mates suggest something very romantic to do for this very special day....Liam will be tagging along as well

just as a point of order ...those of us on the WB PC cruise only had 462 days to plan for that one...lol....now we still have 596 days ( a few days early for the cruise....)

It will be a blast....hope we do not run into the scooter lady....:lmao:

It hasn't even started. It will probably start in the Spring, according to the DA. Of course, that depends on the DA and his decision about whether or not he decides to pursue the death penalty. If he goes that route, it will take a very, very long time to prosecute.

For those not familiar, my husband was shot and killed in a robbery in Feb of this year at the restaurant where he worked. He was 41.

In August, one of my coworker's husband was riding his bike and was struck by a car and killed. He was 51. She and I are close to the same age, both have two minor children and work in the same academic college and have lost our husbands six months apart. There may very well be a trial over her husband's death, but she has not talked about this to me, I am just guessing.

If nothing else, I have learned that your whole life can change in an instant. And, your whole life can be gone in an instant. I am going to try my best to enjoy my life and my kids and make memories that will last their lifetime. In twenty years and thirty years from now, I want them to look back and say, "Remember that cruise we took with Mom to Europe....."

My DH's brother lives very close to Stockholm so I will be contacting him to meet up with us that day of the cruise if he is able.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We hope that your pain lessens with each day but that your special memories grow stronger within your soul.

Never leave the stateroom without it...that's where my KTTW card is! But like Gydel mentioned they kind we (DISers in general I think) have been getting are thin and soft, and no velcro closure at the neck (ick).

.

Sorry for the disappearing act....work has been kind of crazy so far this week - no time for me to :surfweb:

Tammy -   I can only agree with everything everyone else has posted PLUS I feel honored to have met you in person. You are AMAZING - as a woman & a mother. I know I didn't get to see the kids much at all on the PC cruise, but I know that they are very greatful for you & your strength (even if it doesn't look like it right now). Remember that we are always here for you

Kari - good to see you again - I think I met you for maybe 5 minutes?? :rotfl: Glad school is going well.

I will personally throw her overboard if she acts like she did on the PC!!!:rotfl2

Rethinking that - we could steal her battery!!!:

she would not notice.....she got along better than half the people on the cruise....

I am looking forward to meeting you all.....I got very shy last time and only said hello to Ken and Vi

Thanks!

Last year we decided to go on the July Med cruise in April 2007. We already were set for the EB, but hadn't planned on going back, but did. I couldn't get in and out of Barcelona, so we used FF miles to go to Dublin, Ireland and stayed there for three days and then took a direct flight from Dublin to Barcelona that was cheap. The coming home we got a rental car in Barcelona, drove to Madrid and flew back on FF miles from Madrid! When we got to the Madrid airport, the counter agent started chewing me out for the amount of luggage I had. I replied, I am at Medallion Status and I can carry extra bags and weight! She then pulled up our reservation, and said "Oh, Mrs. Neeley, the flight is overbooked so we have upgraded you, your husband and daughter to business class!" I thought---serves her right for chewing me out!

Anyway, we got to fly Business Class back at no extra cost! That's almost as good as getting bumped and getting $1,200 for taking another flight home.
