Finally, finally, finally booked our airfare, hotels and transfers! Now I can work on our itineraries at the ports and making FE gifts.
We are coming straight from the airport to Dover on the 11th. We are staying in London for 4 days after the cruise. I decided to hire a private car service, simply because our experience with a lot of luggage and two kids on trains and subways last year in France was a bit hectic for us. As it turns out, the cost of it really wasn't bad!
So far for ports, I am doing the following:
Oslo: on our own: Viking Museum, Norwegian Folk Museum and Akershus
Cop: on our own: Canal cruise, storget, palace, and Trivoli
St. Pet: We have the ball on the first night and since they shifted the time earlier we can't make ANY of the other excursions. It seems like a huge hassle and costly for a visa, so I'm trying to get a private car.
day 2: herm & pete excursion
Helsinki: I need to pick an excursion here
Stockholm: Vasa and old town on our own
A Belkin Mini Surge Protector with 2 USB Chargers for your iPod/iPhones. It has three outlets.
Wow! I didn't even know this existed. I don't even care if it is on sale or not. I want it!!
I posted this on the Baltic thread but I thought I would post it here also and see what my shipmates were planning:
I am still trying to figure out what to do in Copenhagen.
I think we are going to do a canal cruise, walk some of the stroget, buy a danish, see the palace and finish in trivoli. (If we have time for all of that)
I saw a recommendation for the Maison Dieu on this thread, but they have no rooms left for the night of the 11th.
Does anyone have any other recommendations for a family of five????
I had the hardest time with the Dover hotels (or lack thereof). I have two small children, so didn't want to do the B&B thing. We are staying at Premier Dover - EFT. We have five people, so we had to get two rooms!
DCL must have hired someone who is thinking outside the box!
HAHA Don't pass out!!!
I'm not terribly excited about what I see in Rostock.
I wasn't either. I've been to Berlin before. I thought it would be boring for the kids. We might rent a car and go to Hamburg. We are a toy train family and they have the largest set up in the world there.
Just called DCL AGAIN! There is a Villian ball and a Pirate night(on the 9th night).
I need a suitcase just for costumes, then!
DS and BIL docs arrived yesterday so they are doing the dance

They just learned that since they did not book the hotel through Disney even though it is a Disney hotel that their transfers don't work from the airport to the hotel.

Any suggestions?? Thanks Sue
WHAT??? When I talked to Disney, their hotels were full and they told me I could get the transfers even though I had to book the hotel on my own. In fact, they told me that I could book any hotel and get the transfers, but it would only be dropping us off at their hotel. As it turns out, I didn't want to deal with the hassle and we booked other transportation. I would have been really mad though if I would have done it the way DCL suggested and have had it not worked out.
BTW - does anyone have a 6-year-old girl coming on this cruise??? There seem to be a great group of 9-year-old girls, but my 6-year-old is really upset that she doesn't have a "friend" on the cruise yet!
I don't have any girls, but I have two boys (5 and 7)!
Just spoke to my dad who drives tour buses around Europe and he said he was in Oslo Norway and it was snowing heavily!
Whoa!
