Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Getting excited... Just booked the Maison Dieu B&B for June 10 and June 11. Paid 54 Pounds a night, including breakfast. This is for two with washrooms across the hall.

This is where I stayed - really enjoyed it :thumbsup2

You're right.

I have been doing some research and also some others posted here about the Dover Castle. It looks like it will be very easy to catch a cab right from the terminal and go straight to Dover Castle and then after the tour you can catch a cab either straight back to the ship or into the historic district in Dover and do some more sightseeing.

I agree - it would be easy to do this in 1 day.:thumbsup2

Hop On/Hop Off buses....real easy-- there was atleast 1 employee selling tickets right near the port. We bought all our tickets there - nothing ahead of time.

Kind of wish I hadn't caught up with this thread....makes me remember what/who I'll be missing (sniff, sniff).

You guys are going to have a fantastic time!

Emily - wow on the Roy!
Scott - love the Dreams exursion you described LOL!
Tammy - so glad you were able to do the b2b2b again - you deserve it.
Gydell/Connie - HI!!

As someone said....IF I win the lottery.....THEN you'll see me after all! (fingers crossed)

Aww. Thanks Monica. I know you are going to have a blast on the TA.

Does anyone know what they will be doing on the ship while in the Baltic? On the past cruises there has always been a Pirates of the Caribbean night. And has anyone rented the tux from the ship for formal night? We are wondering if that would be easier than packing a suit?

Thanks!

Marianne

My husband won't wear a tux, but he will wear a suit. so that is what he'll do. I have a hard time getting him out of his shorts and t shirts! He might wear long pants on this cruise, depending on the weather, but I'll bet he's in shorts and a jacket....and of course his American white socks and white tennis shoes......a real give away that's he's from the US.

Hey Monica! Hope to see you soon! Vicki and her hubbie Glen are coming to Orlanod and we hope to have a meal together, at least! I sure wish I could do the Transatlantic too! Gotta buy those lottery tickets!!!!

Was a decision ever made about a group dinner on the night of the 11th for those of us in Dover? If so any suggestions on where to go?

mmmm there must be lots of fun places to eat....I think there's a very old traditional pub in Dover.....anybody know for sure? Connie

My B&B owner (Diane) recommends Park Inn , The Allotment
She also recommended La Scala Italian - (she says Fabulous food)

Sounds like my husband and our friend are just like your husband! Neither one of them is looking forward to long pants for dinners!! We will probably just bring the suits.

Thanks,
Marianne

Hi all! I usually just lurk and have learned quite a bit from you! We are waiting for all our snow to melt away and can't wait for June to get here!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Any idea if the Kids Clubs are doing anything special since we will be in the Baltics? I was wondering if they are going to gear their programming towards the ports.

I am looking for a family or group of people to go on a private tour in St. Petersburg. We have 2 adults in our party. If you already booked your private tour, would you like to share some information and/or you may let us join your party. I know the prices would be lower for a large group (but not as large as the DCL excursions)

Has anyone here ever rented a tux or suit through DCL? Likes, dislikes... I'm thinking about it for Jason so we don't have to pack his suit.

Hi everyone! Now that I also am paid if full, it really feels like we are going!:cheer2: I've been bad and just been lurkiing for a while but you have really given me some great info!

Kailey's Mom - on the Med 2007 cruise we did they had a 3-ring type book in the room waiting for my DD when we boarded. Each night before a new port, they would leave pages to add to the book about the new port and even some games if I remember correctly. Now that my DD is 10, I hope they do this again. I think she will appreciate it more now. Can't wait until March 14 to book the excursions - so I can feel poor once again!

I went on a website about Walking on the cliff paths around Dover. That looks absolutely wonderful! Also, there's a boat tour that goes out into the sea, where you can get some fabulous photos of the white cliffs. Chuck and I plan to sppend one day exploring the cliffs and one day on the train up to Canterbury, where we are going to meet some friends for the day. Then on the day of sail, we plan to have breakfast, pack and go kinda early....but I would rather spend time around the shore and the town than sitting around the terminal interminably!

Been trying to work out how to add photos .... forgotten again! But here are a few from our walk at the weekend. It was VERY muddy! Hope this works:

The walk towards the lighthouse

Looking back from on top the White Cliffs you can see the Castle on the right and the cruise terminal on the left
