I am so happy! My TA got me an accessible stateroom. This will make so much easier with my scooter.
I didn't know you have a scooter......when did this happen?

Well, it is kinda a recent problem. I was diagnosed in the spring with rheumatoid arthritis. I have been having alot of pain in my joints which affect mobility. I went on a seven night DCL cruise in June, in a regular cabin, and my knee started swelling up to the point I couldn't even bend it. So you can imagine that getting up and down from the WC and in and out of the shower over the tub wall was very very difficult. I spent most of the cruise in a wheelchair which I could not fit in my cabin. Very inconvenient.
I am still dealing with problems with this knee and massive walking is no longer an option for me. I am on a number of drugs which are helping but there is no cure. Luckily, there are drugs to help. This could potentially cripple me severely.
So I now have a scooter that I can use for travel, and going to stores that do not have scooters to use for shopping. I am trying to lose weight, and have been pretty successful so far. As a matter of fact, Gydell is one of my inspirations! Losing weight will not cure me by any means, but it will decrease the pressure on my joints.
So there is the whole drawn out story. I guess I always feel like Debbie Downer the last couple of years. Believe it or not, before that, I have a pretty normal boring life. It was wonderful. I will get there again!

Sorry about the RA but glad you got a room that will be better.
Good news on the weigh loss!
Nothing Debbie Downer about you...it makes us seem closer to share the downers as well as the uppers with our dis friends!
How are the kids?
Thanks Emily and Gydell. The kids are chugging along now. My guess it that they will have to deal with their loss in their own way. I don't shy away from talking about their Dad, or reminiscing about him with them. They seem to enjoy that a little more as time passes. Thanks for asking!

Wow, you have been through the ringer these last couple of years. Sending pixie dust your way!
Well, not yet. At last word, it was scheduled for March 15th, however, since it is a death penalty case, that could change. And, even with a guilty verdict, it will be in appeals for many many years, I am sure. I am kinda glad that the trial has been delayed a bit, I feel stronger now to face it than I have been in the past. It is mostly the physical evidence and the possibility of testifying that have me worried about how I will handle it. And, although I might not let Layla attend any of the trial, I will probably take her to the sentencing, assuming of course, we get a guilty verdict, which I am told is highly probable. Chris will be coming with me to as much of the trial as possible. Thanks for asking.
I agree with not taking your dd. She is still young. If you need anything please pm me.
Hello!
we're still hoping to make this cruise .... I work in Canterbury and its a lovely historic city, well worth a stop over I would think and probably nicer/ easier to get a flavour of than Dover. Though Dover Castle is a must do if you have the time.
Looking forward to more cruise chatter (and a lottery win

Hi everyone,
The boys and I are still in on the cruise. Life has been getting in the way of posting on the boards lately

Hi all!
I'm still here, Debbie!!I got busy and the cruise seemed so far away that it was out-of-mind for a while.
Here is what is new with me (on the cruise front):
I recently booked an Alaskan cruise and finally got a cat 2, which I am excited about!
I'm looking forward to hearing about the Dream details and about the excursions for our trip.
My brother-in-law and a friend of ours are going through a divorce so we are going on a 3day cruise in November to help them smile! I've never been on a three day cruise and I'll be without the kids, so it will be something different for us.
I guess our cruise is getting much closer!
I'll try to stop by more often!!!Hope everyone is doing well!

Just remember for the 3 night cruise to take out all your stuff to pack, then lay on bed, then put 1/2 of it back away. I always take way too much on those short cruises and find myself being casual the whole time. I don't even unpack most of my stuff anymore, just set it on the couch and take it from the suitcase and then put it back in!
Which Alaskan cruise are you going on? We've got a Cat. 2 booked for the May 10 cruise, but trying (still) to get a 1 or 2 on the first one.
You'll love the Cat. 2. We had one on our last cruise. We've been in a 3 a couple of times, but the 2 was just awesome. Plenty of room for us 4 adults. Don't plan on cruising in anything less after that, except on short cruises.
