They are supposed to be visible tonight and Wednesday. Did anyone see them? I think that we may have been a little too far south.

I live in a neighborhood where I think some of the people are afraid of the dark - they have the lights on outside their houses all night long. It washes out the really good viewing opportunities.

My husband unscrewed our outside light bulb but it didn't seem to help. :confused3

I haven't seen the Northern Lights since I visited Canada in winter of 2002. It really is the most beautiful thing, and I love watching Brother Bear just to remember it.

I had to take an all night bus ride from Flin Flon to Winnipeg for my flight. Dead of winter, once in November and then in January. And there's nothing in between but the dead of night and a paved road. I've never seen them since either. But I would love to.

It's cloudy here tonight. :headache:

I was thinking that it was weird to make a big deal of seeing Northern Lights, then I realized I am a lot more Northern than most of you here :lmao:

We don't see them every day but it certainly isn't on the news or anything like that.

I'm disappointed! I heard about this and went out a few times to scan the sky last night. It was completely, densely overcast so no chance to see any aurora.

The people who know how to calculate such things estimate that aurora should be visible here in Halifax about 10-11 nights a year. Then there's clouds and fog blocking some of those possible views. And then, I'm not spending every night staring up to see if there are Northern Lights. I've seen real, unmistakable aurora exactly once in my life!

I'll be out again tonight... hoping... hoping.

Kimblebee, set up a Northern Lights webcam for us, why don't you! That would be cool.

We had clouds, showers and thunderstorms all night, I was SO disappointed! I really wanted to see them... :guilty:

Sorry, we are under clouds here too :guilty:

Are you in Canada? Just curious. My DH and I saw what we thought were Northern Lights in NY State once. We thought they were anyway. My father also told me he saw them in upstate NY while camping. Curious if anyone below Canada has seen them in their state.

yes, as I stated above when I lived in Vermont I have seen them quite often.

We were packed in with clouds overnight. I woke up a few times hoping for them to peek through, but no such luck.

I keep my outside lights on all night...I'm not afraid of the dark, but it makes it less inviting for criminals.

Ok, when I was skimming down must have missed it. ;) My DH and I saw it one night, it was beautiful, there wasn't a lot of different colors with ours but rows of swirling rays or something can't explain it. It was not clouds.

We used to see them in upper Wisconsin when I was growing up there.

Well, it sure would be news if we saw them. :rotfl:

We looked and didn't see anything last night or around 4:30 a.m. today. It wasn't cloudy.

We have seen the Northern Lights before though and it is beautiful.

In the 80's in Central Florida, ppl were calling the radio stations in a panic over what was happening in the sky. I was tired and didn't get up to go look out the window, but I still kick myself since it was big news that we got the Northern Lights so far south. I still haven't seen them, but hope to one day.

I saw them once a few years ago. I live in a rural area, and I was on my way home. I thought it might be that, but wasn't sure until I got home and turned on the news. The weather lady was all excited about it.

We are in west michigan.
