Do you remember this show. I loved it. I wish it was on Netflix or Hulu. I'm thinking of picking up the series.

Yes I loved that show too. One year my DH bought me a little stuffed moose with a Northern Exposure t-shirt on it :)

I also wish Netflix had it. We would watch it (we just finished watching Quantum Leap....another great show, but Netflix has a few missing episodes for some reason, but most of them are there).

ANYWAY....we just started watching a new show called "Hart of Dixie" which my husband calls "Southern Exposure" haha

That is because it is about a New York doctor (but a female) who had to move to a small rural out of the way place to practice after med school (but in the south this time) and instead of a moose they have a gator (I think it is called Burt Reynolds). And the town is full of strange characters.

We started it on Netflix (they have the first season) and the second season is currently airing (Tuesday nights on the CW).

That was a cool show. Good characters, quirky writing, warm & funny.

OMG. Best show ever! I loved it, it's still my all-time favorite.

My wife and I loved it and we own the first two seasons on DVD.

Thanks Lucas! I feel like I just had a visit with some old friends!

I have the first three seasons. You might want to check Target. They have it sometimes for very little.

I know! No matter how many times I watch that video I get tears and chills!

And, doesn't Chris in the Morning look as good now as he did then?!

Loved Northern Exposure!
I always wanted a "Chris in the Morning" t-shirt as the stations was
KBHR and our last name is Behr.
My sister has the series, I may have to borrow it now.
ETA- I thought Chris was hot but Ed was my favorite character.

That was a good show. Wish it was in syndication.

Never watched but one of those shows I would if it was on now.

I used to watch that show with my mom. We loved it. Thanks for reminding me about it! I've been meaning to find it to watch again.

Another Northern Exposure fan here  ...

I remember reading that there was an issue with getting the rights to the music that they played during the show. That's why you don't see the show in syndication.

If you watch the DVDs, you'll notice that the music/songs are different than on the original airings.

(That is the case for China Beach also - another great show that had a lot of good music. Problems with obtaining the rights for the music have kept that show from syndication as well.)

Northern Exposure is probably my second favorite TV show of all time. (Golden Girls is my first.)

That's a bummer about the music. That's one of the things I liked about the show.

Some of my favorite episodes:

"Dinner at Seven-Thirty" - where Joel experiences an alternate reality in Manhattan.

"The Quest" - Joel and Maggie embark on a search for the mythical jeweled city of the north.

"Cicely" - tells the story of the founding of the town of Cicely

I also liked the Shelly/Hollis pregnancy and birth storyline. And the Adam and Eve storyline.

That's a common problem. It's funny to watch DVDs of WKRP in Cincinnati, knowing that the show featured a lot of great 70's rock tunes when it aired on TV, and instead listening to Dr. Johnny Fever playing unrecognizable royalty-free rock music in the DJ booth.
