I will be traveling with my 17 year old son. Think he would like the north end. We ate at a place a few years back, it was a largish restaurant, kind of two rooms front to back, lots of booths up front. They served northern Italian and I think pizza too? I thought it was on Hanover street but I can't find it. Anyone know what I talking about?

Or any other suggestions? Someone kindly told me Pomodoro, but I read "romantic" in many reviews and this isn't a romance trip.

Last time we were in the North End we ate at Spagnuolo's. It was very good, and not quite as pricey as something like Strega.

Artu's is really good. or you could do Antico Forno for pizza.

don't go towards Mike's for dessert. Its good, yes, I love it, but its always WICKED crowded. yesterday there was a line out the door and down the street. so unless you want to battle people to get in, i say skip it.

although if you do want dessert as well, Cafe Vittoria's next door is where i go. :thumbsup2

See--this is exactly our tradition when we go to the North End. Especially if you are traveling with a teen boy, La Famiglia's portions are ridiculous. Easily enough for dinner there, and then leftovers for the next day.

Cafe Vittoria is our dessert spot of choice. Just as yummy as Mikes', not nearly as crowded.

Go to Regina's pizza - best I've ever had. They are in the North End, forgot the street name. Ambiance isn't all that, but the prices are awesome and the pizza can't be beat.

I love Antico Forno. The atmosphere is much more fun and boisterous than romantic.

And here's another vote for Cafe Vittoria for dessert and coffee afterwards.
