I did my student teaching there. My biggest impression is that there isn't anything around. It would take me better than 30 minutes to get from one school to another and I would pass nothing but farms on the way.

Thanks for the response,Teacherforhi. Right now, my DH and I are looking for a new place to live and some peace would be nice!! We are very tired of the South Florida area and spent time looking around at new towns on the East Coast on a recent trip to visit family. We liked what we saw in that NC area but wanted to find out more.

Okay--- I admit that I live in Johnston County--- about 2 miles from the Wake County line. Smithfield is about 40 minutes or so away from us. I use www.co.johnston.nc.us as a guide. Dh and I spend most of our free time around the Raleigh area since its closer to us than Smithfield and has a variety of entertainment/shopping options.

NC Belle, thanks for the heads up on that web site. I have been searching the internet too and it has been helpful. Not to be nosy, but are you happy with your quality of life there? That is our main concern since ours is not as good as it could be where we currently are. We also have 2 boys 6 & 9 to be concerned about. We are looking for more open space, less crime and better schools not to mention lower cost of living. Thanks for your help.

Well, my friends that have young children usually prefer private and home schooling over public. We live in a quiet community between different farms, but there are new houses being built up because of the new 64 bypass which makes it easier to get to Raleigh/RTP areas. We like being able to afford a house on 3/4 of an acre without be being tax to death. You can pm me for more info.
