2nd day and 2 of the 4 of us are down. The CMs my husband talked to said it is really going around. Asked for some disinfectant at the DLH. Told to buy our own. Really? Are they hoping we spread it around the resort? I'm not really up for a couple elevator rides and a taxi ride to a store. Didn't get a chance to take my son to carsland. Bummed.

I feel very bad for you. :grouphug:

Just wanted to thank you for the post, we arrive in less than 2 weeks, and will pack some Lysol and try and be extra careful…..

I'm sorry to hear you're all getting sick! No fun at all!

Thanks for letting us know. We bring cleaner with us every trip. I've got a tricky immune system, so I'll likely bring gloves as well to wear in the parks. I hope you feel better soon!

It's going around everywhere - several of my coworkers kids just got over it. So sorry you got sick. Feel better soon! :grouphug:

I'm sorry your family got sick. That's awfull.

There's all sorts of stuff "going around." I just went to the doctor today for a sinus thing that he said he's seen in his office a lot the last few days. It's that time of year for all sorts of stuff out there.

Hope your family feels better soon,

When we stayed at the embassy suites last year we asked for some Lysol or some wipes just to wipe down the surface areas of the room and they said sure we will send someone right up. When they got to our room they asked what needed cleaning? And I explained that I'm just a germaphobe and wanted to wipe down the room. He told me he could wipe down the room but I wasn't allowed to touch the cleaning solution or the towel ecause it is so potent. He finally agreed to put some solution on the towel and let me wipe down the room but he made me promise to wash my hands after and put the towel in a plastic bag for him to come pick up. It was a process so I'm sure there's some sort of liability with the strength of the cleaning solution that these hotels use. They just don't want you to get it in your eye or have a child ingest it etc.

I'm so sorry you guys are sick. That's just not fair. Maybe some where in downtown disney like sephora would have some kind of wipes? What about te gift shop? Maybe they'd have some wet wipes to wipe off door handles and light switches etc. feel better!

wow, what a bummer.. hope you all bounce back soon and can enjoy the rest of your trip..

I heard people on the Dis boards mention that Vons delivers groceries to the hotels. they probably also have Lysol wipes or something.

We always take our own Lysol (and often disinfectant wipes, too). In fact, Lysol is the only thing I've ever had stolen by housekeeping from my room!

I am SO sorry you are sick--that is completely miserable!! When we went last March, there was a virulent stomach virus in the national headlines. I bought Clorox Beach-Free hand sanitizer, and Germstar instant hand sanitizer. Those are supposed to kill more than normal hand sanitizer. We also bought a bottle of Lysol and first thing into the room, I went around and sprayed everything, especially light switches, remote, etc. I bought a pack of food service plastic gloves and we used them whenever we ate anything with our hands. We looked nuts, but I didn't care. I also put the TV remote in the hotel room in a plastic glove or in a Ziploc bag. It took airborne, Echinacea, etc. Oh, and we put Vaseline just inside our nostrils on the flight--I heard someone say Neosporin is great, too. I've also read that drinking lots of hot liquids helps kill germs before they can take over in your body, as does using warm saline nasal rinses (i.e. Neti-pot). I figure anything that doesn't have a negative side effect is worth trying. We had a 10-night vacation in the midst of the stomach flu hitting hard, and the only thing we caught was a cold that one of my daughter's came down with the last couple days. Thankfully that didn't stop us like a stomach bug does. My son did have a stomach thing when we were at DL (GCH) about 10 years ago, and the hotel did send up some OTC meds for him. Hope you get feeling better and the rest of your family stays healthy!

The 7-11 or the ABC Mart on Harbor (north of Katella, south of the Candy Cane Inn) might sell Lysol, Clorox wipes, and/or Purell.
Wishing the OP and her family a quick recovery!

I am so sorry. That is one horrible virus. We had it go though our house last year. Not fun. I really hope you all feel better soon. And thank you for the warning. I will be sure to pack some bleach wipes for our trip next week. Take care.

So sorry to hear! Nothing worse than being sick on vacation.
That being said, that virus is EVERYWHERE right now! I live in Vancouver and people are droppin like flies with it at the moment. I'm holding up in my house with my kids so we dont get it :p

That sucks. I'm sorry :(. When we went 2 years ago we got some sort of 24 hour stomach bug. It really put a damper on the trip, but in the end we were still able to have fun. I'm not really affraid of germs or anything, but when I'm on vacation I dont want to get sick. I didn't spend that much money to just lay in bed.

I recall a thread here last year that went into which wipes actually killed germs and which didn't. Perhaps somebody can dig it up.... I'll try to search for it later.

I work in healthcare and if it's true norovirus you may need to take bleach, as that is the only otc item that will kill that particular virus. I bring a small spray bottle of bleach cleaner and gloves.

I live relatively locally. There has been nothing about a norovirus outbreak on the news. After first reading this post, I have been watching/listening closely for such a report. I have no doubt that the OP was ill (and that stinks!) and that there may be a bug going around --- I was sick myself for a few days --- but I think it's perhaps a leap to start a norovirus panic.

JMO, of course,

Same with Las Vegas, a really nasty bug has been circulating for the past few months, we had almost a third of our staff out one week.

I was thinking the same thing, we get a lot of southern California news here and I haven't seen anything on the news about a major outbreak or anything. Lots of people around here are sick with cold/flu like symptoms but nothing bad enough to be picked up by the news.

That being said if the OP has the virus that's been going around Vegas they have my sympathies. My nose ran constantly, my throat was scratchy and sore, I was constantly tired, and it lasted a few weeks. Not fun!

Hope you feel better soon OP!

OP I am so sorry you are sick. I am a little over a week away from our vacation and am also sick. It is terrible! Stay hydrated, and feel better soon.

this year i have been more health aware, and already planed on taking wipes and Lysol or something like that with us in dec. Wow i have no idea what the virus is but im looking it up now and I am so sorry your sick on your trip. my son got sick in oct one year and nov the next. we are going to try and not get sick this year.
