Nora Roberts fans, what is your most favorite book?

Really? I would never have guessed you were a J D Robb fan. ;) :thumbsup2

My absolute favorite is the Chesapeake Bay series. Just the first 3 books though. The last book wasn't as satisfying.

I do agree with a previous poster; Nora Roberts' books seem to be getting a bit repetitive.

I really agree with the bold. They feel like the same books over and over again with slightly different settings/names. I have the newest trilogy on my Kindle (Boonesboro?) and have only read a bit of it but I feel like I am reading the male version of the Bride one all over again..different setting but the same concept. Kind of disappointing.

Of her more recent ones I liked The Sign of Seven trilogy..still of a similar mold but with the supernatural element to it.

I like the JD Robb ones too

I loved the Three Fates and the Three Sisters Island triology.

The recent bridal quartet returns Nora Roberts to her early romance novels -- very good. I agree with the fact that she's getting very formulaic.

three sisters is my favorite along with the chesapeake bay ones also...I just got a new gift card for xmas so I needs to by a few more books...

edited to add the garden triology is good too!

Garden trilogy? I can't remember that one..can you refresh my memory with a title?

It was the one in the South in a garden nursery -- Red Lily, Blue Dahlia and Black Rose -- had a supernatural relationship with an 1800's mistress to the plantation owner.

The MacGregors... I loved those and have been reading and rereading them for years :). I also liked the Circle Trilogy.

I think I've read almost everything by Nora Roberts. They can get boring after a while.

I love the family series personally. It's like getting to know a big group of people to me. In no particular order:

MacGregors
MacKade Brothers
Chespeake Bay series(The Quinn Brothers)
The Bride Quartet
Sign of Seven Trilogy
Calhoun Women

My favorite stand alone books include Montana Skies, Carolina Moon(one of my very favs) and Midnight Bayou and Blue Smoke.

I wanted to try these...Are they close to her normal books?

Romance/Thrillers?

They are more gory & the descriptions of the murders can be quite gruesome. One book I had to put down for quite a while because it was a copycat of how Jack the Ripper killed his victims. But, I finally had to go back & finish it, (it was like book 12,) as I didn't want to skip the book, as there would be plot & character stuff in the book intrinsic to what happens in the next books.

What Nora is best at is creating great relationships between her characters. You will absolutely fall in love with Eve Dallas & Roarke.  Plus, they have a great ensemble around them. It takes the first 6 books to introduce all the characters, then they are pretty much in them all. The characters grow, change, evolve over the 40 books out. The books have to be read in order.

Nora aka J.D. Robb, (initials of her 2 sons,) publishes 2 "In Death" books a year. She really puts a lot of thought & heart into these books and it shows. These characters live & breathe in her daily. The characters & stories grow more complex each book.

Here is the full list of ALL the J.D Robb books in order, including some mini-books that were part of other anthologies:

As everyone else said, her other (Nora) books, she's been kind of phoning them in the past several years. :(

I don't think I've ever read one of the books she's written under her real name. I love her In Death series that she writes as J.D. Robb though.

You're kidding! I never would have thought it. ;)

I also liked the Three Sisters Trilogy: Heaven and Earth, Face the Fire and I think the other was Dance Upon the Air.

Yes, I liked the Three Sisters Trilogy.

Don't bother reading High Noon. The whole middle section was such a snoozer. :p It's like she knew she had to write a book of a certain amount of pages and added in all this boring filler to make the book that long. :sad2:

Aha! OK I remember that one now..I could not make the connection at all...I remember the supernatural part of it now.

I loved Honest Illusions. I also loved the Chesapeake Bay series (those Quinn boys were smoking hot). The Irish trilogy (Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea) was also good. The first series I ever read of hers was the Key trilogy, and I was hooked. I love so many of her books.

I loved the bride quartet: Happily Ever After, Savor the Moment, Bed of Roses and Vision in White ( I may have that in the exact opposite order. :confused3
I also liked the Three Sisters Trilogy: Heaven and Earth, Face the Fire and I think the other was Dance Upon the Air.

I LOVED the Three Sisters Island trilogy.

The Three Sisters Trilogy was the first Nora Robert's books that I read. They are still my favorite ones.

My favorite is probably Public Secrets.

Second would be Birthright and Angel Falls.

I liked the 3 Sisters Trilogy too.

The circle trilogy was horrible! I adore Nora Roberts and own everything she has written. This series was PAINFUL to get through

having said that, she is a master at character development

Her JD Robb series is my favorite though. Love seeing the relationships in Eve's life develop. :lovestruc

I had to look that one up..I remember it now and I disliked it so much I donated my books to the library when I was done..I NEVER do that as I keep and re read everything.

Two of my favorites are Hidden Riches and True Betrayals. I also like most all of her trilogys.

I have to agree with the PP about the In Death series. Definitely a favorite here.

For stand alone books - Sanctuary, Carolina Moon and Montana Sky
For trilogies - Chesapeake Bay Saga and the Born in Fire, Born in Ice & Born in Shame

Best of all - the "In Death" series! Whenever I settle into a new Eve Dallas and Roarke book with Peabody, Summerset, Feeney, Mavis & McNabb, etc, I really have begun to feel like I'm among old friends. Love them!!

I've read everything Nora has written, but I got bored. :rolleyes1 Still think she's a great writer. And I couldn't think what was so "familiar" about the current one I'm reading. "The Next Always"--It IS the Bride Trilogy with males! :scared1: Still gonna finish it, then back to Johanna Lindsey!! LOVE...HER!!!!

I don't read the series books, only the hardcover singles. Honest Illusions is my all time fave, I have read it several times. Public Secrets is a close second. Carnal Innocence was the first I ever read, and it got me hooked.

These are some of my favorites too, I think Carolina Moon is my all time fave. I enjoy any of her romantic thrillers, I don't read too many of the just romances unless I am completely bored with nothing else to read. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the romantic thrillers.

Also if you enjoy Nora Roberts you would probably like Sandra Brown as well. French Silk is one of her best IMO.
