I got that email too. I'm seriously considering applying the cost of my already purchased tickets to the price of the AP next weekend when I am down there....that is if I can even do that.
I would think we SHOULD be able too, I'm hoping to do something similar....if we plan a quick trip, it will be on a block out day, so I want to buy 1 day tickets, then upgrade to the passes with the pymt plan....
I got this email today and was so excited!
BUT I read through all FAQ and couldn't figure out when you can start using them??
You pay 80.00 as a down on each pass and then pay your monthly...so is it when a year of payments are made you can start using it?
No, you start using it immediately. I believe the $80 down was chosen since it is the cost of a 1-day/1-park ticket, and, therefore, the minimum cost of entering the parks. The payment plan is simply a way to spread out the payments and make the pass more affordable. Your start date for your pass is the day of activation, so your expiration date of the pass will be the same date one year later.
In July, we took my nieces' 4 day park hoppers adn applied them to Deluxe passes, so we were left with $17 a month payments. Worked out very easy. The monthly payment has been an option for all Californians for a few months now. When I went in September, DH was getting an AP. I asked the CM at the ticket booth if you can apply the PH to the AP and do the monthly payments and she said no. She said you can apply the PH to the AP and pay in full, but the computer system was not setup to handle applying the value of a PH to an AP and then calculating monthly payments. It wasn't a big deal, we just paid the difference. But I was curious.
But we all know how you can ask the same question at Disneyland and get a million different answers. So hopefully by speaking to a manager or something, maybe there is a way to do it.

We did it at the ticket booth since the girls had previously had passes. If you have a problem, ask them to bring a lead in. They will know how to do it.Great, glad it worked out! I wonder if this is the difference between the AP Processing Center and the ticket booth CMs processing the APs? I know our CM wasn't entirely sure of what to do when we were at the booth in September for DH's AP.
When I got my AP, the AP Processing Center was still open, and the process was much smoother. Anyway, glad it worked out for someone!![]()
They normally tell you when you purchase the AP that the first monthly payment will be deducted in 2-5 days.
