I got an email today, Disney is now offering us Northern Calif. folks the option to purchase an AP w/monthly payments. I am so excited, this works so much better for our family.

Just thought I'd share!

I got that email too. I'm seriously considering applying the cost of my already purchased tickets to the price of the AP next weekend when I am down there....that is if I can even do that.

I would think we SHOULD be able too, I'm hoping to do something similar....if we plan a quick trip, it will be on a block out day, so I want to buy 1 day tickets, then upgrade to the passes with the pymt plan....

We're taking advantage of this too! We usually only make it down from Sacramento once a year, but now we'll be able to go at least twice!

And even better, it's such small payments that the husband won't notice! He never goes, so thank god he doesn't know what a long weekend at DLR costs! LOL! :rotfl:

The monthly payment has been an option for all Californians for a few months now. When I went in September, DH was getting an AP. I asked the CM at the ticket booth if you can apply the PH to the AP and do the monthly payments and she said no. She said you can apply the PH to the AP and pay in full, but the computer system was not setup to handle applying the value of a PH to an AP and then calculating monthly payments. It wasn't a big deal, we just paid the difference. But I was curious.

But we all know how you can ask the same question at Disneyland and get a million different answers. So hopefully by speaking to a manager or something, maybe there is a way to do it.

You should not need to buy one day tickets first. The day you activate an AP you can enter the parks even if it is a blocked out day. I would think then that since you are buying and activating an AP at the ticket booth, you should be able to arrange for that to be on the payment plan if you qualify for that option.

I got this email today and was so excited!
BUT I read through all FAQ and couldn't figure out when you can start using them??
You pay 80.00 as a down on each pass and then pay your monthly...so is it when a year of payments are made you can start using it?

No, you start using it immediately. I believe the $80 down was chosen since it is the cost of a 1-day/1-park ticket, and, therefore, the minimum cost of entering the parks. The payment plan is simply a way to spread out the payments and make the pass more affordable. Your start date for your pass is the day of activation, so your expiration date of the pass will be the same date one year later.

Wow...how nice is that...especially during this economy :)
Gotta love disney :)
Thanks for the explanation!

In July, we took my nieces' 4 day park hoppers adn applied them to Deluxe passes, so we were left with $17 a month payments. Worked out very easy.

I know...this makes it easier to get an ap than buy tickets! When I went in Aug., I had to buy a 3-day pass for my grown dd to accompany me. I discovered I could put $80 down, she would have an ap, and then she could make the payments after that. It was cheaper for me and nicer for her!

Great, glad it worked out! I wonder if this is the difference between the AP Processing Center and the ticket booth CMs processing the APs? I know our CM wasn't entirely sure of what to do when we were at the booth in September for DH's AP.

When I got my AP, the AP Processing Center was still open, and the process was much smoother. Anyway, glad it worked out for someone! :thumbsup2

We did it at the ticket booth since the girls had previously had passes. If you have a problem, ask them to bring a lead in. They will know how to do it.

I'm a long time lurker on the boards and had to log in to ask about this deal. Would anyone be willing to post the details (price and payment info)?

It's on Disney's website. California residents can get an AP with monthly payments by putting down the cost of a 1 day ticket and having payments charged monthly to a credit card. For a deluxe its about $25/mo. If you put more down (upgrade a PH) your payments are less.

One small note about the $80 down per pass. The first "monthly" charge was 2 days after I "bought" my tickets (and while I was on vacation at Disneyland - I bought the annual passes two days before we left!).

It may not seem like much, but when you're on vacation and trying to keep track of every penny and have multiple passes being charged, it wasn't completely expected. I questioned it and was told that they always do it, so just wanted to share my experience. :)

They normally tell you when you purchase the AP that the first monthly payment will be deducted in 2-5 days.

Yeah, except I was on vacation visiting family before we went to DL and bought them online. I didn't read the fine print when I bought and printed them out since I printed them out from my telephone at my In-laws. I figured someone out there might be as dumb as me and was trying to be helpful. :)
