Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oo

I think it's pretty lame that in order to keep people from getting out of a moving ride vehicle, we have to literally harness them in.

This was my thought when I had the comment about the idiots ruining it for the rest of us.

I don't go on this ride anymore - I hate getting soaked.

I spoke with TM as well....they said it completely voided out the warranty on the entire ride.
I say they've messed with this way too much, they should just close it, scrap it, and start fresh. Make it less intense, and more disney-fied so no one jumps out.

it has quite a steep angle drop compared to other flume rides.

I hate to say this, but I like the lapbar idea, I've felt quite uncomfortable on the drop before, not much to hold onto

i'm chicken, love the themeing/ride, even the extreme air-time:woohoo: ...just always afraid my youngin (who's at least 1/2 my size) was going to go airborne:scared1: and I wouldn't be able to grab him.

Dang I really enjoyed our trip to US/IOA this June but on that trip I wouldn't fit in Dr Doom,Dueling Dragons, and the Hulk and I barely fit in Mummy and Rip Saw Falls. I am afraid it is going to be back to Disney due to the fact soon there won't be much I can ride at Universal.Hopefully when the new Harry Potter stuff opens up it won't be size restricted.

Yeah but the ride would have almost 30 minute downtimes because of kids getting out. If people would keep their kids in check more often, than the ride wouldnt need lapbars. Or stupid people that think every lift is the exit.

With lapbars, I might actually put my hands up for the drop. I have never done that on Ripsaw, as the angle/drop is too much.

Do they really have people every day who try to get out of the log,it seems to me they should realize that's where most accidents where people get injured happen and not by staying on the ride??

Wow, I might actually ride it now. I have only rode this ride once. It was way too much for me.:scared1: But, now I could actually see myself riding again.

Well, PHOOEY!

I'm guessing a couple of idiots ruined it for the rest of us?

So, who fell out?? :confused3

:confused3 really???? FIRST time I rode it, put both my arms up....after taking a picture cresting the hill :thumbsup2

Lapbars on a log flume? You gotta be kidding me!

I used to love this ride. I heard they've already tampered with the main drop since my last visit, and now this. I'll still ride it, but I find these measures ridiculous. Part of the fun of log rides is the airtime, and the freedom of not being restrained as you plunge earthwards.

People actually get out of a moving ride on a regular basis? Or are the "jumpers" getting out when the ride is stopped at the top of a lift hill? Either way, these idiots should be thrown from the park permanently for ruining other people's enjoyment and for causing delays. In America's highly litigious society, I guess I can understand the reasoning of the park management when they decided to put in lapbars to prevent jumpers, but I still think this sucks bigtime.

There, rant over with for now. :lmao:

Ack this is not good. I will be going there in two weeks. Wonder if I will still fit. I'm 6'0 and about 254. I wear a 1x to 2x shirt usually and waist is 38in. Ripsaw is my favorite ride there. I can still wear the clothes I word last time I was there but am about 20 pounds heavier. Anyone think one way or the other if I will have a problem?

Trindar, kind of on the subject, I was wondering if you've ever had a hard time fitting into any of the other rides at Islands of Adventure or Universal? My boyfriend is around the same size as you, 5'11" and 225 pounds, and I was just curious if he'll have any problems fitting in any of the rides. It would be nice to have some kind of an idea of what we'll come across while we're there. :goodvibes

Why are people jumping out of flume rides?? I didn't realize it was a growing epidemic.

Do they need to make a Public Service Announcement?

He should not have a problem at that size. When I was there last I didnt even need to go in seats designed for bigger people. LOL hoping that still applies now.

I don't know about the other people, but I can assure you, I wasn't trying to get out of the ride! :scared1: We weren't being stupid or playing around, but I was still lifted from my seat and it was a horrible feeling and my lower back hurt so much that I really couldn't enjoy the rest of the day. I had a hard time getting up or trying to sit down for the rest of my trip. I never complained about this to Universal, but that doesn't mean that it didn't happen. I certainly can understand some of your concerns, but this is safety we're talking about. You go to theme parks to have a good day and enjoy the rides, not to worry that a ride is might get you injured. I wouldn't want to go on a ride if I'm not going to feel safe or secure. If someone falls out, or someone gets injured, then everyone is going to blame the theme park or Universal for not taking enough safety measures. So I'm really glad that they did it, as they have to make sure that everyone is going to be safe. Just my humble opinion.
