From Disney's MGM calendar:

"The Backlot Tour will be closed for refurbishment January 4 - April 1, 2004."

 :(    :(

Wow, another LONG rehab. That means we'll be missing it, too. I wonder if they will be changing it, or just "fixing it up?"

Well ... considering a big chunk of the tour used to be residential street, which no longer exists, let's hope that they're changing it to include more than a drive past the empty Animation Building, a drive through a parking lot littered with old, rusty cars, and a visit to Cat Canyon. Change is good!

In this case, I think I'm inclined to agree. We were actually unsure of whether or not we were going to do this anyway. It was on the "if time" list. Now I don't have to think about it anymore, I guess!

Hooray! This ride needed some serious help. It was looking pretty sad in May. We felt bad for the guide... he didn't have any 'projects' to talk about, and had to point out the same props I remember from our trip in '92. And this was WITH residential street (seeing the Golden Girls house was nice in '92, just kinda sad in 2003)
Eric and I threatened each other with this ride after we got to 'enjoy' it once ("oh yeah? you have to ride Backlot Tour repeatedly!"). I really hope they spruce this up. If they tie in some of Pirates production, I'll be whistling a different tune.. it would be great to see the Dauntless or Interceptor, instead of Flight of the Navigator, and Dick Tracy cars.

Count me as another vote for YEAH! We went last week and I have to agree that this is in much need of refurbishment!! It was sad in March, but now that the residential street is gone, it was really bad! I hope that it will be reopened with updated attractions!
