Everyone has pretty much just ignored this post as if it didn't happen.

Disney has put on their own website that Indy is going down for a refurb. So while it is interesting that they didn't include Indy on that list that was posted, I am not sure what you want everyone to do?

I just stated it was interested that it wasn't discussed.

You get front of line access to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on the Happiest Haunts tour during Halloween season so I wouldn't have thought that would be down.:confused3

Stagger them so one block of guests doesnt miss it all so another block of guests gets it all, it may be off sesaon but with several rides closed, the park open 4-5 hours less per day and less parades/shows to disperse the crowds i'm sure the lines will be almost as long as summer

Not to mention several rides run at a lower capacity. :upsidedow

How can you determine a "block of guests"? A week? A month? There are always guests coming and going from Disney. I also think it's exaggerating when you say a block of guests "misses it all". The refurbs are staggered! But when you have the refurbs lasting several months, I'm not sure how to avoid this from happening. Disneyland has been doing this for years...it shouldn't be a surprise. Plus it makes sense, logically, to refurb the rides when there's less of a demand.

My advice: Be one of those blocks of guests who gets it all. Go during summer! :goodvibes

To everyone trying to figure out why people are complaining about ride closures, think about the reason people complain about anything on the internet...

Because they can.

Although closures are dissapointing, they are a necsary evil. The only issue I have is when they schedule two or more major rides for closure at the same time, although I understand that sometimes they have to.

Also, if you are sure that your next trip to DLR will be your last one, I can see the frustration!

I did send DLR a little email today saying I thought they needed to put the Indy closure in the calendar to avoid confusion and disappointment... ;)

I don't think I understand, people can come and go as they please, so there is no way for Disney to predict when a block of people are coming and going, it isn't like everyone goes from Sunday to Saturday. And I think it is pretty obvious that no matter when you go at least one ride will be down for some reason or another. I don't think there are really several rides closed at once at any point except for when they close HM and IASW for the holidays. Most of the time it seems they spread out the quick refurbs pretty well.

I have to schedule my vacations 6 months in advance, so last November I scheduled our first trip to DLR in late May with hopes of going to Carsland. The day they announced that the official date was June 15th, I started planning our next trip to surprise my son on his birthday in October with a trip to see Carsland. The only ride I didn't get to do on our last trip was Matterhorn because it was being reburbished and Indy. Guess I will never see Indy? I'm not complaining because I understand the point of refurbs but I can't keep flying over to DLR....boy I wish I could!

Could someone please give me a link to the ride closure calender? I can't seem to find it on the website.

I really want to know
what are all the complaints about Indy, everytime I go to Disneyland (and I do a lot I have an annual passport) it is always open and the ride appears to function fine. Nothing on there isn't moving like Expedition Everest so wheres all this coming from that Indy is like Everest??

I think the main thing is they published there hours and rehabs about 6 weeks out...
Then they change it, 2 weeks out. when it is almost impossible to change your dates..
If they had just announced this when they published the the hours and rehabs I don't think people would be as mad..
They should not change their published hours or rehabs unless it is unexpected emergency..

The fact is that they were telling CMs two weeks ago and not putting the info on the site. This just really strikes me the wrong...
It's just wrong to tell people check our website for hours and rehabs, then to change it on them 2 weeks before their trips...

It makes it SEEM like they did this deliberately.. Bc they know people will move their trips to a later time.. I know I would have if i could since we are coming from the east coast and this is the only ride my DH wanted to ride..

I was there in mid July, just four weeks ago.

There were problems with the initial doors -- often the doors were open before the cars arrived, making it so you could see into that first room.

There were problems with fire effects -- some of them were clearly not working.

There were problems with the ball -- it no longer rolls at you and drops down, it stops just part way through the movement.

There's one segment where webs are projected into space (much like PotC with the projection of the pirate face on the mist) and that entire section didn't work at all -- just an odd bright light pointing at you, no mist, no projections.

Those are just the things I remember now four weeks later. I am not a big Disneyland person, we've only been twice, this July and last July, and I am not super detail oriented but even just in that one year, I could tell that the ride had deteriorated rapidly. I'm sure I'm also leaving out a handful of more subtle things that weren't working right...

There is so much going on in the Indy ride, its sometimes easy to miss whats not working. We were there yesterday and the ball doesn't roll all the way down, the skeleton in the casket doesnt pop out at you, one whole section - just before the rats - had no sound at all. On top of that, the ride broke down several times during the day. Its sad if you happen to be in the park during a closure for refurb, but the rides are so much better when they reopen and everything is working properly and operating all day long.

Indy needs it. Every time we are there it ALWAYS does down for a few hours. It will be rough though with a couple of the main rides down. :(.

I love Dionosaur at AK and was looking forward to riding this! This is my first trip to DL and probably won't go again for many years

I was also there in July but it never broke down while there
I noticed all cars only going into one lane instead of three
The ball was fine
I did notice the fire effects are hit or miss
the skeleton doesn't pop out and the spider webs are also hit or miss otherwise though from what I've heard about Everst (never been on it but heard LOTS of bad thigns about it) I wouldn't compare Indy to Everest.

Soo after the big disappointment... And a few days to except it..
I will just have to kiss Indy good bye and spend the a extra time picking out my Dooney and Burke bag..
