nonUniversal hotel close by

I'm hoping to get a cheaper hotel close by to Universal our first day down since we won't arrive in enough time to go to the park and then check into one of the Universal hotels the following day.

Any recommendations of hotels that will allow 2 adults, 3 kids in one room that are close by that are cheaper than the Universal hotels while still being clean and not too far away?

Best Western Plus is right across the street and has a full hot breakfast every day. Not sure of how many are allowed in a room.

We stayed at LaQuinta on Jamaican Court (off Int'l Drive) it was 5 minutes away and had a reasonable price. Our room had 2 beds and a sleeper sofa. It had a fridge and 2 sinks..........one in the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. Not sure what the max is, but I think you should call them. With 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa, I think you should be ok.

It is a little older property on the outside, but the rooms had been updated. The room had a flat screen TV and wifi. It met our needs just fine.............and it was a large room. Not a puny sized one!

Try the Enclave - we had a 2 br suite for about 70 bucks. We could see Rip Ride Rockit from our balcony. Small pool, onsite restaurant...

We stayed at the Hyatt Place across Kirkman Rd. We walked to/from Universal two days and drove one day. If walking at a good pace (with a 8 & 6 year old) it was 18 minutes - I timed it. If walking leisurely, or on the way back after a long day, it was 28 minutes.
Very clean, large rooms, weirdly small bathroom but whatever, good breakfast, excellent staff. There was a shuttle you could sign up the day before but it seemed to be a bigger hassle.

Hyatt Place Universal(Caravan Ct). It is across the street, very nice, mini suite, free breakfast. Stay away from I drive.
