non-typical CS food choices?

To save money, we often eat at Cs places for a one meal at least while at WDW. Since we go often (local), I was wondering about CS food that isn't the typical burgers, pizza or chicken nuggets. I know Downtown Disney has quite a few CS places with good food, but what CS meals have ou gotten at resorts or the parks that were truly good?

Sunshine Seasons...pork chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus; I got the BBQ sauce (tastes like chili) on the side and preferred it without the sauce. Very good though! They also have roasted chicken and grilled salmon. All delicious. I think they also have beef stir fry and some other options but I'm gluten free so didn't look into those options.

Columbia Harbor House also has grilled salmon with broccoli (and couscous if you can have it). It was very good. They also have fish/chips which my husband liked and a veggie sandwich that looked great.

We like the chicken and rib combo at Cosmic Ray's. Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland looks great but doesn't work for us with allergies. Flame TRee BBQ chicken and ribs is also great!

Love the shrimp poboy at POFQ. It's only available at lunch.

I agree with Sunshine Seasons, too. It's great.

The resorts have some great none burger and fries options. Create your own pasta/salad is at quite a few resorts and delicious.

I would have a look through Allears.net and make a note of anything that sounds interesting. Where are you staying?

I actually think it's rather easy to find "non-traditional" CS options! Flame Tree and Yak n Yeti in DAK, pretty much everywhere but America and the Electric Umbrella in Epcot, Cosmic Rays, Columbia Harbor House in MK. DHS is the hardest since we don't eat there often. The resorts are good, too. Contempo Cafe, Captain Cook's, Boardwalk Bakery, the Mara, all have great options. You can almost always get the burger and/or nuggets, but pretty much every menu also has other options.

There are really good options at most, if not all, CS locations. At least 85% of my meals at WDW have been CS and I've had exactly one hamburger (it was okay,) one pizza (truly awful,) and a bite of a chicken strip (meh.) People have this idea that those will be their only choices if they eat CS, but it really couldn't be farther from the truth.

Tangierine Café - Morrocan food (delicious!) Epcot

Best part about Columbia HH is the upstairs area-it's a nice area to sneak away and eat in peace. We get a potato at the cart outside and chowder at HH and eat upstairs - perfection! Second Tangerine Cafe, Yak and Yeti outside, and strangely enough, I do like the Dino place at AK. For DHS, the outdoor "food market" by Tower of Terror is ok. Prefer the Backlot Burgers - I know, burger place, but the do have some other choices and I like the feel of the place.

Yorkshire Fish and Chips is really good. Tangerine Café is our favorite by far. Japan is typical American-Style Japanese food, but definitely better than burgers. Not a fan of the Chinese CS, it is Americanized but not good to me, but lots of people like it and it's not burgers. Obviously most of World Showcase is Non-American food.

I second (or third etc) Columbia Harbor House....it is really good sandwiches and a relaxing place to eat.

At Animal Kingdom there is Yak & Yeti as a CS next door to the TS....the CS has a carton of fried rice that is very tasty and filling. When Flame Tree reopens it will hopefully still have good pulled pork.

DHS is a bit more work to find something different.....The Hollywood Brown Derby LOUNGE has beef sliders that are delicious, but at $17 a bit on the high side of CS. Not a fan personally of ABC Commissary, but they have Asian salads and seafood.

A few things that come to mind for me...

MK - waffle sandwiches at sleepy hollow and the lighthouse sandwich at CHH
Epcot - anything from tangerine cafe or sunshine seasons, I've especially liked their soups and salads
AK - new harambe market looks good and we love the bbq platters ar flame tree

Couldn't have said it better. One tiny exception . . . I tried the ham & cheese waffle sandwich at sleepy hollow and found it had little flavour & soggy waffle. Threw out half of it. Probably just a one off bad day for the waffle cook. I've also heard much better things about the spicy chicken waffle. That will be my pick of choice next time.
I can't remember the last time I had a burger & fries at WDW. Years & years. The diverse CS options are very, very good.

Basically check out some of the menus you can find at wdwinfo or allears so you know before you go. Do not forget the smaller QS places like Liberty Square Market that you can find at the parks.

Not sure if the new food cart outside Test Track with the gourmet grilled cheese was just a seasonal thing, but heard it was good.

Like a PP mentioned, I LOVE Tangerine Cafe in Epcot. I'm not vegetarian but their vegetable platter is excellent. And such a nice change! The quiches (there are 2 kinds) at the Bakery in France is a great option also. If you like Mexican Food, the Mexican QS has some nice options-quesadillas and deluxe nachos.

Since MK table service can leave much to be desired:
-- Sleepy Hollow - from 11am-4pm (??) - they serve two savory waffles - one with a sweet & spicy fried chicken and arugula w/ slaw, the other with ham & cheese. Coffee drinks too. Under $8.

-- Casey's Corner - the BBQ Slaw Dog - a footlong hotdog topped with pulled pork and cole slaw. It's huge. Good luck picking it up. It makes a mess. It's delicious. Comes with those new shoestring/matchstix fries or a baggie of apples. If this is too much, the Polish Sausage with Grainy Mustard works too. Live piano player. Under $10.

Boardwalk:
-- ESPN - nachos. Not really qwik serve, but honorable mention. $15.
