DH is refusing to quit right now (planning before his 50th in March). Any tips on how to cope with the new smoke-free parks policy? Not looking forward to constantly waiting and he doesn’t think the nicotine gum or patch will help. I want him to abide by the policy since I have asthma and I wouldn’t want myself or anyone with health issues impacted. Luckily we are at the parks early and usually head out by noon to enjoy the pool and then back in the evening.

Thanks!

Don't wait around for him. If he wants to leave the park to go to the designated smoking area, let him. You can go on about your business without him.
Excellent advice! Great time to check out some of the shops or take in the little details in the parks.

I haven't been there since the change, but I don't think it'll impact me that much, hopefully not others either. There weren't that many smoking areas before, but we knew when we were on each side of a park to have a smoke then. We leave the parks in the afternoons too (to go to another park usually). My plan is to have one before I go into the park, then one leaving/entering (maybe both) the new park.

I'm sure if I'm going to be in a park for more than 3-4 hours, I may make my way out somewhere else in there (the hardest time not having one will be after a meal for me). I won't expect anyone to wait for me. Although if you're a couple with little kids that may be tough to have the one person doing everything with the kids while the other smokes. I didn't see many families with kids in the smoking areas, so not sure what they did before but maybe they'll just do the same thing as before.

My friend was just here with me for a week. She used a patch, no problem. The most convenient smoking section was in Epcot outside the international gateway. No big lines to return through security.

Our challenge with that is then he needs to take his phone, which then means works calls constantly coming in since he is self-employed. Maybe I can just give him one of the kids phones (22,19, and 13) to find us. I wish he would just try the gum or patch.

Luckily older kids.

Yeah it would be nice if there were just secondary exits for smokers just to go in and out at the other parks! Thanks!

If you think he would still want to smoke at some point during the day, don’t push the patch. It can be dangerous to smoke with a patch on because of nicotine poisoning.

When dh is really tired or needs a break he wants to sit and smoke and relax for a moment. At that point it’s not really about craving the nicotine but wanting the relaxation. For that reason, we are trying something other than the patch for him.

I'm traveling with a smoker next month...so I have a question...where are the new smoking area, exactly? He's never been to Disney, so I will need to be the person who guides him. Is there one at both the main entrance and world showcase entrance to EPCOT? And were are they at the other parks in relation to the park entrances? Thanks.

My DH is the same way, It was already bad constantly walking to the smoking areas, I knew them all, All the people make him agitated in return he wanted to smoke more. I would say have a trial day go do something near home an activity and give what ever method he wants a try.
My DH has a smokeless thing he uses,( it's a smokeless disposable cigarette)

I'm a smoker and we just got back. Epcot was the best park for me since the international walkway was close after we ate.
MK was the worst, we never found it. Someone told me later its past all the buses and the map is wrong. That was just way to far to walk and I was cranky by mid afternoon.
HS was not bad, before the buses and to the left but there were no benches or shade.
The best area was AK. Its surrounded by trees and bushes, has lots of benches. Its between the entrance and security so you dont have to go through security again.
I saw a few people using vapes here and there in the parks and resorts. No one seemed to ever say anything to them.
Overall, I dealt with it because I didn't want my husband to go with me. And he always would have no matter what I said, so I waited until we left everyday to smoke.
It didn't stop us from booking another trip so I guess it wasn't that bad. Lol
