What are your Non-Signature places to get seafood? We are heading down next month and are seriously craving some delicious seafood as the other member of our family is pretty anti-fish and anything from under the sea. The prices for signature restaurants make us a little leery (even with a TiW discount) and Coral Reef's reviews don't particularly excite me.

So where are your go to places/dishes?

I've heard awesome things about Cape May Cafe! We're planning on going for the first time our next trip, so I'm hoping someone else chimes in, but it's suppose to be like clam bake with a lot of seafood.

Cape May so good. Lots of stuff other than seafood.

Usually we tend to avoid the buffets/AYCE except for breakfast. We did eat at Cape May for breakfast during our last trip and enjoyed it, but didn't think of it for dinner. We're off in the MK area this time around, but heading over to the Epcot resort area may be required.

Even though Blue Zoo is not inexpensive, I think you'd come away from the meal more than happy. I actually priced out a meal at Captain's Grille (YC) vs TE's Bluezoo and found we'd pay around the same for what we'd order. We're 5 and it came out to around 130 at each place. This is taking into account my kids preferring some of the apps/kid menu for a dinner. Give the menu a look and see if it's around what you're looking for as far as cost. My mom still talks about the crab nachos we had at happy hour...in 2013. I would put this at the top of the list.

Raglan Rd will have some seafood. I love the Scallop Forest appetizer and they also offer mussels and shrimp. They have other seafood entrees that include the former, salmon, and cod (hopefully it's actually cod and not something else). We've eaten there twice and enjoyed everything.

Homecoming Kitchen has shrimp and grits, if you don't make it at home. I've heard good reviews. I assume the other fish dishes are freshwater or tilapia. Boatwrights also serves S&G, along with some classics like gumbo and jambalaya. Olivia's has some things that might appeal to you and is very reasonable in price, comparatively.

Call me crazy but I want the whole fish entree at Skipper Canteen in MK, which was Lionfish last I saw and a threat in the Atlantic. Yay for eating badly behaved fish! I think DH and I can share this after an app. Unfortunately, white fish fillets are often mislabeled when it comes to you. You order the name on the menu and it can be substituted for a variety of other fish because the government's system. It's a big problem in the food industry. Easily identifiable species or whole fish are the way to go.
Off my soapbox, they also serve head-on shrimp (supposed to up the flavor). I'd steer clear of the sustainable filet, just because you won't know what you're really getting. If you don't care then have at it.

I guess I am not following your question. Are you looking for a place that would be acceptable for non-seafood lovers while you can get decent seafood that is non-signature. Or are you thinking of splitting off from the rest of your party one night for you and who cares to join you to get decent-great seafood?

We're looking for decent-great seafood without the signature price. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear enough. :)

Disney is a time when my mom and I can go hog wild and eat wherever we want. We're pretty much willing to try any place once.

I just double checked and Blueezoo takes TiW, so I'll offer that as an option up to my mom. We're already hitting up Raglan Road for my birthday dinner, so I may have to forego my beloved lambo for the cod. As for Skipper Canteen, I've had the head on shirmp but maybe I'll take on the lionfish.

I second bluezoo and The Wave at CR. bluezoo is excellent, but if you are looking for a more affordable option in the MK area, The Wave is great.

I had fantastic crab cakes at Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club. They also have a good lobster roll at lunch.

I wouldn't shy away from Coral Reef, necessarily. We've had good success there, and in general, the dishes are thoughtfully prepared. Some of the accompaniments or sauces may cause a few to blink (crawfish slaw, lemon caper remoulade, et. al.) though we love the variety. Cape May is a more basic seafood compilation, and while not top shelf, certainly you can find your fill there.

Put me down for Cape May as well, I enjoy it. The salmon at Columbia Harbor House was actually pretty good if you are looking a bit cheaper. The Wave usually has some good seafood as well. If you want a quick fish and chips, Yorkshire is really good.
