Hey, I was just wondering if there's anyone out there like me. And by that I mean, can't stand to go on the faster rides. I don't know about you but just looking at the plumeting drop at Spash Mountain gives me the creeps in the worst way. Unfortunatly, my brother and mom really like those kind of rides but at least I'm not forced on them. But I do go on Pirates of the Carribian (which does have a slight drop that makes my stomach turn) every time we go to MK because its my mom's favorite ride of all time. But to get to the whole point of this post...is there anyone out there who can relate? C'mon! I can't possibly be the only one who doesn't like those Thrill and Spill rides...or can I?

Sign me up for that club! I can just barely stand the drop on Pirates of the Caribbean and the Norway ride in EPCOT. Just looking at those roller coasters makes my stomach turn. I can't do log flume rides either, so splash mountain is out! I can take some of the spinning rides as long as they don't go too high in the air. I like the "teacups" type rides and I can take any simulator type ride, too, because I know it isn't real and I can just close my eyes if it bothers me! I have been reading a lot about Big Thunder Mountain and wondering if I should brave it on this trip. From what I read it doesn't have any big drops.
So anyway - you are not alone - there is at least one more person out there that can relate!

Yes! I knew I couldn't have been the only one out there! Man, I can totally relate. Any ride with a drop is out of the question for me. But now I have 2 rides I have to brave now. The first is Pirates of the Carribian which as I said, is my mom's favorite ride and it means a lot to her that I go on with her. The second one (which I just realised last week) is the Norway ride. Now, I remember last year when I went on for the first time in years so when going up that steep slope in the beginning, I practically paniked (sp?) thinking that they made this a floom ride or something but then I realised that the drop wasn't as big as I thought. I still said to myself that that'll be the last time going on that ride for a while (personally, I think it ain't that great but that is merely my opinion) But now my dad (who's never been on Norway) wants to go on and I'm the one person he wants to go with so I can't say no. *sigh* Oh well. But hey, if you do decide to brave Big Thunder, I'll have to give ya kudos points for that. But I'm sure you'll do fine if you try it. My mom and brother went on it and said it isn't that bad but I'll just take their word for it, y'know?;) But I'm thinking of going on Dinosaur next time. I never went on it because I didn't know what to expect but my brother (who's been on it like a thousand times) says that there's nothing there like huge drops so I think I can handle it. Whew, well, I think I talked your ear off enough. But, still it feels good to know that there are others like us, right? Well...

Ja Ne for now!

I have never liked what I call "free-fall" rides. Sometimes even swinging high in a swing puts me in a panic! I was leary of RnRC until I read comments on this board about a year ago. I don't recall exactly what people had to say, but most said that once you got past that initial accelleration and relaxed into the ride, the rest of the ride was cool. I did and it was. These days, I ride things I wouldn't ordinarily ride, but only because I have an 8 yr. old DS, so he, DH & I will ride as a family (I also don't like inversions.....). Somehow, I'm relaxing more and enjoying more. Maybe it's just old age setting in, I don't know.

My DW and myself feel your pain! Splash mountain is out! As is ToT. DW still digs her nails into my arm when we go down the little falls in PoC and Maelstrom. RnR is also out. The amazing thing though, DW actually likes Test Track! I think see just likes to drive fast like she did when she was a kid. I guess the one "thrill" that we have been on is Dinosaur. I like it, but DW went on once on a dare from our son, but she said never again. Really though, some of us are just not cut out for those things. I guess we are of the ilk that misses the old World of Motion and Horizons. :hyper:

I need my membership certificate for the club too :p .

I never ride the mountains (Space, Splash or BTM), no RnR, Dinosaur, ToT.

I can do certain simulator rides like Star Tours and Body Wars, they are ok as they are not real.

Fortunately, WDW has so many other things on offer, I don't feel I suffer at all! And I don't have to spend time in line for these busy rides, or hunt down FP's either .

You can add me to the group except for Splash Mtn. Somehow I got the courage to do it and loved it. I still get that awful scared to death feeling going up the hill for the last drop. My kids and dh are all into the coasters and TOT. I sit and have a Coke while waiting on them. :)

Much to my DH chagrin I am also a member of the club. DH loves those rides and tries to guilt me on them every time. But I HATE drops. I do Pirates and test track but only with a motion sickness patch placed saftly behind my ear. I start out needing those for the plane ride.

Okay so those of you who are in this "club" and have done Test Track and Dinosaur - what did you think?? Those are the other 2 I am thinking of braving (besides the possibility of Big Thunder Mountain). Those of you who understand not liking the thrill rides with drops - what's your opinion of these 3? Are they tame enough with no drops or should I stick with Pirates of the Caribbean as my big thrill ride!!??

I hate drops and spinny things.

Like I said Pirates is okay. I love test track. There are no drops but it is fast. Fast I don't mind. I also do Big Thunder Mountain. There are a few tiny drops, but I don't think they are any steeper then Pirates, just faster.

My guestions is about Mission Space and what this will do to me.

I guess test track is not in the same classification as coasters because there are not these steep climbs and quick, sickening drops. And once you get outside of the building, it just moves really fast {65mph, I believe} but there are no "drops" or " loops". Dinosaour is basically like Star Tours except you are moving along on a track and getting jostled around. Even though you get the impression that you are going up in the air, you know your are only on the ground and the vehicle just goes up and down. It's a phsycological thing with me , I know what is actually happening

Sign me up too - I'm a big fat baby!:p But someday....maybe.

I was once a member of this club. A few years ago as my youngest DD started to gravitate to these rides, I put my foot down and said if she can do it, I certainly can! :earseek:

I will admit to being scared out of my (fill in embarrassing noun here) but I first just closed my eyes. :scared1: After awhile I got used to the drops, loops and spins and I opened my eyes. It is wonderful to watch the world go spinning by and enjoying the Disney theming along the way. Now, I love these rides!

I hope to help others overcome their fears and enjoy the fun and adrenline rush you get when you do these rides. :teeth:

Me Too! I've never liked roller coasters. My family has always been understanding. Thank goodness hubby can go on anything, so it has never been a problem with the kids. I am the "holder of everything". Everyone piles everything on Mim and goes! I love to go shopping during this time. Pirates though is one of my favs. That drop never bothered me. I won't do Space, Spalsh, Tower of Terror or Rock n Roller. I never considered it a big deal. Like I've always told my kids, better I don't go on because if I did I know I would be sick and have to go back to the room. It's just not worth it for me. So I guess I am a member of this "dorky";) club. Actually my kids made me President of it years ago!! LOL!!!

Luckily, my DH is not as "dorky" as me. He will ride the roller coasters and freefall rides with the kids while I shop or just wait for them by the exit. I love to see how excited they are when they first get off the "scary" rides that I can't work up the nerve to ride.

Whenever we go on TOT, I just go through the hotel and library, stand in line with them, then take the "chicken elevator" down and wait for them. I tried TOT one time and I was shaking very badly when the ride was finished. I do love how beautifully the ride is themed though and that's why I walk through with them.

One ride I never have worked up the nerve to go on is Dinosaur. Maybe one day.

I have a mixed marriage. My DW is a freak for ToT. Rides it 2 or 3 times a day. I'd rather have my gall blader removed. Test Track is no problem at all and after years of verbal abuse I now do Space Moutain. Thank God for World Showcase, Pirates, GMR, etc.

Count me in as a member of the No Thrill Rides club. I get motion sickness from thrill rides, so Pirates of the Caribbean IS my thrill ride, LOL! I don't feel the slightest bit bad about it though. That's what is so wonderful about Disney World--there are tons of things for us scaredy cats to do! ::yes::

The only thing at Disney that scares me is ToT, but my DS10 doesn't want to do anything that "wiggles his tummy"! He got upset last time when I told him Maelstrom was OK, because I forgot about the teensy little slide near the end.

What you need is a good acronym. How about League Of Roller Coaster Haters, or LORCH?

I used to be one of those people. I went to Disney 3 times before riding anything fast. Last year I decided to try it. I figured hey I'm not going to die and I just may like it. Needless to say I rose Splash Mountain 5 times and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 3 times Space Mountain once (I would have ridden it more if I hadn't run out of time) the Barnstormer once, and Star Tours twice. This year I'm trying to work up enough nerve to go on Tower of Terror. All I'm saying is start with something that is not so bad like Splash Mountain. You might like it. I got hooked.
