Grandma is coming to Disneyworld with our family of 4 (mom, dad, 8 yr old girl, 5 yr old boy). Grandma has no interest in riding anything that resembles a roller coaster. Is there any strategy the rest of us 4 can can use to take advantage of her unused Fastpasses? I know she can only get one Fastpass per attraction so I'm not sure what good only one Fastpass would be. Can I use one of hers for character greetings and have my son "tag along"? For example, can I use one of her Fastpasses for Princess Hall and just have my daughter do photo ops while we watch? Will they let my son go even though he doesn't have a Fastpass or do all parties inside the building need a Fastpass?

I booked Tower of Terror FP for the 3 of us in my family, but didn't intend to ride. My husband took my MB and rode twice. As for Fairytale Hall I am 99% sure everyone needs a FP to get inside.

No. Everyone needs a FP, doesn't matter how many people are doing the actually meet and greet. No way can they go by the trust system because can you imagine how many times a group of 10 would come up and say "but only X is going to meet the Princess" only to have all 10 meet her once inside? Now, that's an extreme but the point is, the CM outside manning the FP booth and the CM inside with the character have no way to let each other know how many had a FP to meet the princess of any said group. So everyone needs one

Others can use Grandma's FP but only those w/ a FP can go. We travel w/ 7 and my mom doesn't go on thrill rides so she will sit out. Sometimes another person sits out then we send the kids (age 13 and 10) back on with the magic bands of the people who sat out. If all of us but my mom are going on, I'll schedule my mom a FP at an attraction that she prefers. For example at Hollywood Studios while the six of us go on Rock N Rollercoaster, I get my mom a Toy Story Mania FP.

I would actually like to hear more on this topic.

In my family of 4, (me, wife, son 9, and daughter 3) my three year old obviously can't ride some of the more action packed attracations.

When booking my fastpass + for everything, I just made them for all four of us (since its not like our daughter is going on anything without us)

If we do child swap, since my daughters fastpass goes unused, could me or my wife ride with my son, and then perhaps the other would also ride with my son when they get back(my son gets to go twice), that way neither me or my wife is stuck going alone, and my daughters fastpass doesn't go to waste.

Anyone got any experience with this?

In your case, if she's too short for the ride, you can get a rider swap. So you'll only need 2 FP, one for the adult1 and one for DS9. Adult1 gets rider swap, gives it to adult2. Adult2 and DD3 can book FP for something else all together. Ride while Adult 1 and DS do the thrill attraction. Then meet back up, adult2 and DS can take rider swap and ride thrill ride again. Rider swap is good for 3 people so DS can ride again using that. Hopefully, that makes some sort of sense

We do this as there are 4 of us but only two of us love Tower of Terror so we use theirs, and haven't been stopped yet, although we are holding our breath when we scan their magic bands as we are female and the other two are male (one adult, one child). I suppose it isn't allowed but you are not really doing wrong either as the fastpass is booked for your party so why not use them? One time we even when to HS together and took all 4 magic bands with us and rode it twice, and they weren't even in the park! We were waiting to be called out on that one, but they didn't, phew

Good topic. I have 4 kids, ages 13, 11, 5 and 3. Obviously the older 2 will want to ride more extreme rides than the younger 2. Debating on whether to get FP+ for all the kids and just letting a couple of us ride twice or get FP+ for other rides and using parent swap.

The only thing ride CM's care about is whether or not the Mickey turns green. If it does, they don't care at all about whatever name is on it. You won't have any problem using DD's band.

If grandma doesn't plan to use her Fastpass should she still scan hers and walk through the line with us, and then someone (like me) can go 2 times in a row? Or should she wait outside the ride and I go through ride first and then get her Magicband and go through Fastpass line again? I may have a kid that will "chicken out" like at Tower of Terror or Haunted House so if one of the kids "chickens out" , how do I use the rider switch combined with grandma's Fastpass? Doesn't grandma's Fastpass have to be used before we can book a 4th Fastpass?

My DD does not do the thrill rides. So, DH and DS do the thrill ride together. Then, DS and DD switch MBs and I go with DS. Basically, one lucky member gets to go twice and we split so one of us waits with DD and one of us goes with DS.

You can't get rider swap if they chicken out. Only if they are too short to ride

If someone wants to use grandma's fp then it should not be scanned in. Scanning it uses it so if she scanned and didn't ride you would not be able to use it later.

You can't stay on and ride two times in a row even with 2 fp. You use one, exit, get her band, ride again
