Non-prescription liquid medications in carry on?

I am sure this has been asked before but I can't find the answer. Can I take non-prescription medications (like liquid cough/cold medications or antibiotic cream) over 3 oz in my carry on bags? No one is sick, I just want to be prepared IF we need them while we are gone.

Not over 3oz. Last trip, I did have a see through container of children's ibuprophen that was 4 oz, but it was clearly less than 1/2 full. TSA let it through. Just pick yourself up some smaller containers.

Yes, keep them separate from your 3-1-1- bag (I use another ziplock) and show them to the TSA agent when you go through security.

From the TSA:
"Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint."

I took a full bottle of children's motrin when we went in September and had no problems. I had it in a seperate baggie and showed it to the TSA agent.

You were allowed to bring the ibuprophen because all medicines, otc and prescription are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule.

Other liquids, (toiletries etc) must be in clearly marked contailers of 3.4oz or less and in a one quart zip lock bag. You can't take a 5oz bottle of shampoo with just 3oz left.

I highly recommend reading over the TSA website before flying so your up to date on all the restrictions. I provided the link above.

Yep, meds of all kinds are exempt (that includes contact lens' solution, btw.) For the sake of expediency, I put them in a separate ziploc (no size restriction) marked with my name and "MEDICATIONS" and put that in the bin next to my 3-1-1 baggie.

My daughter had a separate back pack as a carry on last month. In it was Childrens Motrin, Tylenol, Zyrtec, 2 inhalers, EPI pen and a nebulizer (2 with Asthma). All the liquids were over 3 oz. She specifically declared it at the Security checkpoint and it was not a problem. They were most interested in the Nebulizer.
