Non paying bidder on ebay, now what do I do?

Hi,
I was doing so well on ebay, until my last two items were bought by the same bidder. This person won both items, I immediately sent her an e-mail invoice, combining shipping charges for her. Well, almost a week later, I haven't heard or received payment. I thought maybe with the holiday, she may not be home. Well just now I checked her feedback, and she has several negatives for not paying up or responding to e-mails.
I just sent her a second e-mail requesting payment. My question is, how long do I have to wait before complaining to ebay. What's the process for getting my listing fees back (if I even can)?
What a bummer! Why are people that way?

I understand how you feel...that's the catch of 'eBaying'...but I think if you email eBay now, and tell them what happened, they will refund you the listing fee. You can also request their information and eBay will send it to you, perhaps you can try calling her to see if things are ok. But since you said she now has a few negative feedbacks, the contact info might not even help.

Sometimes people even put fake contact info, which really sucks. :( We've had our fair share of eBay flakes, on both the buyers and sellers end.

Good luck to ya, hope everything works out. Like I said, just contact eBay and they'll most likely refund your listing fee and you can just relist the item again. If its an expensive item, I think you can set the auction where the bidders have to contact you first for approval to bid (i.e., if they have no/low feed back or some negative feedback). Hope this helps!

*edited* I hope you didn't send the item yet though. DH said that eBay will just return your listing fee (try this link)

Thanks for the link. I'll give her until Friday, then report it. I guess I'll relist the item and block her from bidding.
Thanks for the info.

You must wait for 7 full days. On day 8 you can file a Unpaid Item Dispute. Then you have to wait another 7 full days. If the buyer does not pay or respond to the Dispute you can "close" the dispute and request your FV fees. Unfortunetly you will not get your listing fees back. BUT you can either do a second change offering (if you had more then one bidder) or relist the item. If the item resells you will get a credit for the first listing fees.

Here's another question. If I see that a bidder has negative feedback for not paying up, can I cancel out their bid?

Ugh... I hate non payers... I have one that didnt pay.. I sent a second invoice and didnt hear anything so I went back into ebay and pulled up the item and then hit the send the buyer a question button.. the ebay item # is right there and then yesterday I get an email that says what item are you talking about.. I need an ebay # and description...  There was nothing else in the email.. No title or anything.. At first I had no clue who this person was.. so I replied.. What are you talking about???? I have no clue what you mean.. They replied that they are trying to find out if they ordered it or their sister did.. This is such crap!! The info was in the original thing I sent them... Im giving them till end of today and then reporting it to Ebay and leaving negative feedback.. Ive had to leave several negatives because of this.. and a few months ago I bought something on Ebay and I ended up having to complain to paypal about them.. As soon as I did that I got my stuff.. So just wanted to mention on the other side of that if you are a buyer and not getting your stuff and if you used paypal.. complain thru them..

I had a nonpaying bidder a couple months
ago, and trusting soul that I am, waited
six weeks while he made excuses: busy at work, need your address (which he didn't because it was a Paypal auction but I sent it anyway 2 or 3 times) and finally gave up. By then it was too late to get my fees
back so I left him negative feedback. He
responded by leaving ME negative feedback saying that I didn't respond to his emails, and ruining my 100% rating!!!

I hate that, it's gets me SO angry...when they're clearly the ones that are wrong, they still can leave a negative feedback!

Can they still leave you FB if you have filed an unpaid item dispute? What about if you file UID and they don't respond so you get a credit of FVF? Can they still leave you FB? That doesn't seem right.... of course they are probably gonna neg you!...P

Yes, you can cancel their bid BEFORE the auction ends, then block them from rebidding on your auctions. This is the only way I know from stopping them from giving you negative feedback. If they haven't won your auction, they can't neg you.

Once when a proven multiple Non-paying bidder, (according to her feedback,) won my auction & was even subsequently suspended for her 3rd non-payment (my auction,) she negged me. I asked eBay to take off her FB (which was obviously retaliatory,) and all they said was they can't because everyone is entitled to free speech. :earseek:

Since then, I check each and every bidder's FB as they bid so I can cancel any bad ones out. I have even ended auctions several seconds to a couple minutes early, if there is a great eBayer, with many positive FBs who bid, rather than end up with a last second snipe bidder who won't pay.

It may not be "fair" (or against eBay rules) to end the auction early, as another good ebayer may not have a chance to bid in the last seconds, but to me, in the end, this is a business transaction. I found a good buyer who is willing & proven they can pay. Period.

That stinks. I sell quite a bit on EBAY and the feedback system is a joke. I've heard every excuse in the book from non-payers, from deaths in the family to I didn't bid, Ebay screwed up. I no longer bother leaving negative feedback, I can't afford the retalitory feedback. For the fees Ebay and Paypal charge they need a better system. I seriously hope someday another online auction site opens that can compete with Ebay. Talk about a monopoly, it's Ebays way or no way.
