Now that we are living here in Florida, we are really making use of our DVC points on multiple long weekends mostly. With annual passes a no go, it's hard to justify the cost of park tickets for every trip. I find myself really trying to do more resort stays, trips to Disney Springs, mini golf and other non park activities. Anything you all have done that you would suggest for us to look into? It's me and my husband and our 6 year old. Love to hear your ideas!

Once your kiddo is 8, I highly recommend the night safari at AKL. They give you a night vision scope and take you around to see the animals up close after dark. Absolutely awesome experience. Our kiddo loved it!

SW of Orlando, Disney has a huge nature preserve that is good for a day trip, free to enter but can make a donation if you like.

Since you live in Florida, you can still get the Pixie Pass. Granted it is not valid for weekends or holidays, but you can add on the water parks for $99 and that can be used on weekends. When we visit, we generally never go to the parks on the weekend.

This year we will be on property for three weeks with a weekend side trip to Punta Gorda to visit my DB & DSIL. Since I can't purchase an annual pass, I don't plan on doing any park days.

Will use other modes of transportation to sightsee around property, do a monorail crawl to the resorts on the line. We will take a boat from BWV to IG and get on the Skyliner to HS. From there we will take a bus to OKW for a meal at Olives which we have never tried before and after we will take the boat to DS. In the daylight this is a fun ride, you get to see parts of the park you don't normally get to see.

There is also horse drawn carriage rides at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and Port Orleans. I think this is something DH and I will try on our next trip. I also like the idea of the safari at AKL. I think there is plenty to keep a person busy if you want to do something other than the parks..enjoy. :flower1:

I wasn't aware of this - what's the name, or can you provide a link? Sounds like a place DH and I would love to visit!

I'm not reck, but we've been there also. It's the Disney Wilderness Preserve. We enjoy taking a Gideon the skyliner to other resorts, to eat or just visit around. One afternoon, we went to Pop Century and read all the signs from the different years, especially birth years.

The resorts have a lot of fun. OKW used to do T-shirt tie dyes. Saratoga sometimes does games at the pool (water balloon toss, creature roundup, etc). Loads of fun. Check with the rec center at whatever resort you are at.

We did a cake decorating class at Amaretto's that was a lot of fun. I also enjoy Painting with a view (I think the name changed, but the same concept).

Hunting for Hidden Mickeys. Explore the resorts. All kinds of fun.

OKW still does.
