Non-Park Character Meals

We are going to Disney in Dec using the military 5-day tickets. This will be ds's (then 5) first trip to Disney, and we really want to do a character meal--probably something with Mickey. I am considering doing the character meal on a day NOT included in our 5-day tickets as to not use up a lot of our park time eating. Which restaurants have character meals that are NOT in the park--that we could access once our park tickets are used up.

Here's what I've found so far:

Chef Mickey's
Cape May

I'm not familiar with many of the resort restaurants, so I'm sure I'm missing some!

Che Mickey's is great. It is the only restaurant we have gone to every trip, and we go twice (one dinner and one breakfast.) It is geat. There are others, but IMO, CM is the best!!!

We've never done a character meal, but Chef Mickey's really stands out as the one people recommend!

1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian

I believe the Swan or Dolphin may have one as well.

Chef Mickey's would be my choice. We've done dinner there twice and enjoyed it. We weren't as fond of the OHana breakfast but we're not huge breakfast eaters.

I think those are the only 2 character meals with Mickey outside of the parks.

Since you're apparently military, have you thought of going to Sea World with the Military Salute free tickets? We did it last year and it was fun.

complete now. The Garden Grove Restaurant in the Swan was referenced above. The breakfast character meal only occurs on Saturday and Sunday. A dinner character meal happens every night.

I would tendt o agree with Chef Mickey's for a five year old.

1900 Park Fare had excellent dinner food (Cinderella including Prince Charming, Stepmom and Stepsisters)

Cape May was lots of fun. We had an early reservation (group of 24) and we got lots of interaction- the characters acame and saw us about 3 times each during our meal (1.5 hours). They also spent lots of time with us each visit.

The Regal Sun in Downtown Disney has a Character breakfast.

I agree!! We saw all the characters more than once, and they spent a lot more time than at CM.

Cape May breakfast has incredible food. Ohana breakfast is a total blast!

Ohanas breakfast - when I was there it had Lilo, Stitch, Hawaiian Mickey and Pluto? I don't remember except that definitely Lilo and Stitch were there.

1900 Park Faire breakfast - British characters - Pooh and Tigger, Alice, Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins

1900 Park Faire dinner - Cinderella characters (haven't been since it switched to include the wicked stepsisters, but I hear they are a hoot)

Cape May breakfast - standard characters in beach-wear

Mickey's backyard BBQ at Ft. Wilderness - never been, so not sure if it's any good

Chef Mickey's at Contemporary - breakfast and dinner - some people love and some people find it lacking. I personally found it overcrowded and the buffet food not very good.

No...we hadn't really thought about it. i didn't realize they were doing good tickets, too. I'll have to check it out!

Chef Mickey - we're using the same deal and that's where we'll eat - we've done most of the character meals and that's the best one.
