Non owner, newbie question

Hi,
I hope it's OK to post here if I am not an owner. If I need to be directed elsewhere, please help. Thanks!! I am thinking of planning a trip to Disney during (time frame removed). I know that this is peak season and many have already booked/reserved. That said, when exploring my options for rooms for 5 people, I want to see all of the options. Is there any chance that any owners here book their units for peak season, knowing they are going to rent them out? I am wondering if someone here (or another forum?) has a unit for 5 that is looking to rent it out to someone during this time frame. How can I learn more about this to see if this is an option? Any feedback/thoughts? Thanks so much!

Welcome to the DIS Boards.

Since the board messaging system seems to be down, I'll reply here. Reservation requests are only allowed on the DVC R/T board, and may be posted as a reply into an existing Points for Rent thread. We do not allow any existing reservations that are booked on the speculation of renting to be offered until 30 days prior to check-in date.

To answer you question about room occupancy, you would need a one or two bedroom unit. Most one bedrooms can accommodate 5, but for most resorts, there will ony be a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. You would need to supply an air mattress or sleeping bag for the fifth person.

AKV (except value class units) BLT and renovated OKW units will have an additonal single sized sleeped chair for the 5th person. OKW is currently about 60% finished with it renovations, and there is no way to guarantee you will receive a renovated unit. The OKW renovation should be completed in early spring of 2011.
