Hi!
We would like to stay at BCV or VWL the third week of September 2007. When do you recommend putting a "reservation wanted" thread on the rent/trade board? Do I also need to ask for points or is that assumed since I am not a DVC member? Thanks for the help!
Jackie

You want to start asking now. However, most people won't be able to help you for another 3-weeks (7 months before your trip). As for what to ask for - be sure to read the FAQ's very cafefully before posting. If anything is still not clear, just ask.

Actually, you could have started asking for that last October at the 11 month booking window. This is especially true if you want VWL, because it is a small DVC resort.

I called member services this morning and studios were all booked at VWL right through to January. There will probably be some rooms opening up at the 7 month mark when people move their reservations around.

But I would have someone start looking for you right away.

Good Luck!

how "safe" are the posts posts to reservations wanted? it would be an absolute nightmare to arrive a disney and find i have no reservation. i would be renting points as i am not a dvc memeber. any thoughts vetrans?:grouphug:

NEVER pay a total stranger by using a "cash equivalent" such as Western Union or money order. I also don't recommend paying by check (especially cashier's check). The safest way to pay is to use a credit card. (That isn't difficult. Members of the public can pay and receive payments by credit card through PayPal.) Personally, credit card payment is the only method I would ever agree to use, because it is the only method that provides you with some protection against fraud.

I rented points for a stay last week and all went smoothly. I have to admit, though, I didn't really research it that well before doing so.

Renting is a good faith agreement between you and the DVC member. You are trusting them to have made the reservation and to not cancel it before your arrival. You can draw up a contract and have both of you sign it, but the only real way to enforce it is small claims court or filing a claim w/ your CC or PayPal. WDW does not forbid point rental, but will only deal with the DVC member in the case of an issue.

What we did was call the actual resort, OKW in this case, before we left for our trip. They download the ressies from Member Services 2-5 days before check-in, and they will confirm it for you. MS will not confirm a reservation with anyone but the DVC member.
