Non-Flower Centerpieces pic Please

I am thinking of changing my centerpieces to something smaller. The table we are using are the exact tables from the Tamu Tamu courtyard, as a matter of fact our reception is at the Tamu Courtyard.. so they are pretty small... what did you use for non-flower centerpieces at your reception???

The linens were chocolate pin tuck floor length table cloths and they were $39 each. We also had the matching napkins and those were $2.50 each. I was originally trying to save money on the linens and just go with the standard ivory cotton table cloths. I am so glad my sister convinced me to splurge and go for the pin tuck linens! It really made a huge difference!

There was a couple recently who were married in the pavillion and down the isle they had the glass votive for floating candles filled with water and a single long stemmed red rose. It looked amazing! I can't seem to find the photograph at the moment but if I do I'll be sure to post it.

Another idea is to buy wine bottles with the bottom hollowed out and you can place them over candles, they always look really pretty! I'm sure Yankee Candle has them but you may be able to get hold of some cheaper on ebay. Similarly you could get hold of some Moroccan style lanterns.

You could also use something like an old rustic jug:

I know Disney doesn't rent these, but if you wanted to try something DIY, I am making ribbon topiarys into Mickey heads for my centerpieces! I am using my wedding colors.

I am not a flowers kind of girl- so this suites me perfectly, and they are rather inexpensive and pretty easy to do!

These are so cute!

They would even look fantastic for bridesmaids, flower girls, etc. or maybe even a really small one (if possible!) for a grooms button hole! I'm so envious of you creative types, I'm dangerous with sticky tape and scissors never mind anything more complicated, ha ha!

Here are ours. We had vases filled with coffee beans and green apples, then just a few votives around on the table.....

Fruit centerpieces are always good; like the apples or lemons, limes, grapes.

The coffee beans are good to use too, especially if you like the scent of coffee. One centerpiece I saw just added coffee beans to different sized candle holders and then put the candles on top. Maybe buy some flavored beans so there's a nice aroma around the table.

Our reception is also outdoors so, I'm going to be using lanterns with a bunch of rose petals (maybe 1/3 of the way up) under the candles. (you could buy fake petals or even freeze dried for a pretty good price). We're also going to put colored paper luminaries around the edge of the reception space.

We had an assortment of those. Some were square containers, others were round. Some had the floating candles on the water, and some were a large pillar candle with just sand.
