Hi,

My DH and I have non-expiry ticket: 10 park days and used 4 of them.
We wonder if we can use say 2 of 6 remaining days in our next next trip (our next trip, we are taking advantage of FD and purchased 7 day PP) and keep the remaining 4 for in the future. (maybe in 3-4 years). Or do I have to use all 6 of them?

Also, I cannot add WaterPark and More option anymore, right?

When I talk to Disney, CMs tells me different information, so I am not sure... :(

Lastly, how do I change it to AP, if I want to?
How does it work if I have 6 days left vs 1 day left if I were to upgrade to AP?

Thank you!

Use them however you like. If you add them to MDE and there are other tickets on your account, go to first services before entering your first park and have them prioritize the tickets so the turnstile uses the ticket you want to use.

If it has been more than 14 days since you used them first you cannot upgrade to ap. not sure anyone can add anything to nonexp tickets now, but even if it can be done it can't be done if it has been longer than the 14 days since first use.

We have 10 day nonexpire tickets that are at least 5 years old. We have 3 or 4 days left. The first time we went to park after they announced they weren't selling non expire tickets any more we went to guest services just to trade our paper cards in for the newer plastic ones. We were told they are good forever. We won't buy any more tickets until these are used up. We go to DW a couple times a year but go to parks maybe one day and hit at least three in a day. That's why it has lasted so long. When we bought these we got 8 of them, enough for the whole family. One daughter and grand daughter have used theirs up. It cost a lot back then, over 700 each, but if I had thought enough about it when I heard they were being phased out I would have bought more then. Right now every time we go to parks for a day the incremental cost is way less than 100 compared to what a current 1 day park hopper costs.

I really didn't lose that much by them stopping that, except that when I do go I have to be certain about how many days I want to visit the parks. Before I could be flexible and if something else caught my attention I could go maybe just 3 days instead of 4 without losing anything. However, they did get to use my money for years and make more money from it without my ever using up any of it and if I had some left over I had much more incentive to go and spend other money in the process. I might go just because I had days left. Now if I think about going I know that on top of transportation, lodging and food I am also going to have to come up with the cost of the tickets. I know I had paid it in advance anyway, but, it didn't seem to hurt as much when I didn't have to include it in the cost of the immediate trip.

I really don't think that the pencil pushers thought the whole dynamic out. Oh, well... their loss. I know for a fact that I am not ever going to go as often as I did before, so hopefully they have a load of others to make up the difference. Even the lessened revenue from no longer being able to charge for the non-expiration perk a significant number. Just think that replacing me with someone else will not increase revenue. In fact, they would have them anyway and also my spending. Just seem penny wise and pound foolish.

Yes, you can just use two days on the ticket and save the rest for other trips.

You mention you want to use 2 non-expire days on your next trip AND you have a 7-day ticket for the same trip? If that's the case, you would be better off upgrading the 7-day ticket to a 9-day and saving all of the non-expires.

You can only upgrade tickets within 14 days of first use, so you won't be able to upgrade the non-expire ticket at all. You could upgrade your 7-day ticket to an AP however.

What do you mean by 14 days? I am confused....

Yes. I wish I have gotten more as well. :(
We're in Canada, so when the dollar was better, the non-expiry pass wasn't too expensive.

Agree. I am not sure why they got rid of non-expiry tickets.

No, we're going 14 day trip and doing 7 parks in December and we might take mini-trip in January for 5 days, but may go to the part 1 or 2 days, instead of full 5 days.
Now I am wondering whether we should upgrade our 7day park pass to AP...

What do you mean by 14 days? I am confused....

You cannot modify or upgrade a ticket (e.g. add WPF&M or convert it to an AP) if it's been more than 14 days since you first used the ticket. Assuming that your first trip, in which you used the first 4 days, was more than 14 days ago, you cannot modify these tickets (though you can use the remaining 6 days).

Agree. I am not sure why they got rid of non-expiry tickets.

I think because it was a pretty good deal for guests if you used them in the right way (spread over at least three trips), so they wanted to extract more profit from those guests.

Yes, they were used in 2012. So I guess I cannot change that one to AP.
Thank you.

Yeah. sigh. :(
But some pointed that some people lose their tickets or try to come back multiple times, so WDW is better off this way.

Hi,

I am asking maybe the same question again, but I am little confused.
We most likely are going back again in June and got the RO.
Can I use just 2 days out of 6 days left? Is so, how can we do that? Do we go to the Guest services?

Thank you!

1. got the RO.
2. Can I use just 2 days out of 6 days left? Is so, how can we do that?
3. Do we go to the Guest services?

Thank you!

1. I have no idea what "RO" means.
2. Yes.
3. If your current tickets are a "paper" material,
you can go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations and convert them (free) to new
plastic tickets with built-in RFID for use at the gates and for FP+.

If you are staying at a WDW resort, you can go to any ticket booth or Guest Relations and have your tickets transferred to your MyDisneyExperience account so that they can
be used with the MagicBands you will get from the resort stay.

1. I have no idea what "RO" means.
2. Yes.
3, To do what?

1. Room Only

3. How do I just use 2 days? Do I have to go to the Guest Services and let them know? or do I just scan it?
How can I ensure that I am not 'activating' 14 day window? (I am asking this because CM told me that for non-expiry ticket, once it is used again, it is subjected to the 14day window)

Thank you!

IF you want to make advanced FP+ reservations, you want to put your tickets into your MyDisneyExperience account in advance. You can try that yourself, and if you can't do it, CALL Disney.

Yes .. you can save them.

If you get a room-only reservation and go to the parks for two days . .you simply use 2 of those 6 that are left. Nothing else you need to do. You don't need to "tie" your tickets to the room at all. You could stay at the resort for 4 days, but if you only go to the parks twice it will only use 2 of those days.

I've gone several times in the past few years with 10-day non-expiration tickets (both on-site and off-site) and just use them on a whim.

I love the freedom non-expiration tickets give you. Want to go one less park day? No waste. Want to just go an extra day? No hassles.

I will be sad when mine are gone. After this next trip (in a few days!) I will only have 4 days left!

Are your NE tickets loaded on your My Disney Experience?

Also, I have a feeling that CMs are getting confused because there are now 2 types of non-expiring tickets.

1. The ones I think you have, where you can use them at any time and use them one day at a time spread out over however many years (I have these). e.g. you have 10 day tickets you bought in 2012. You can use 1 day in 2013, 3 days in 2015, 4 days in 2018, and 2 days in 2020. The only 14 day window with these is any upgrades have to be done within 14 days of FIRST use (this would be in 2013 in this scenario).

2. The kind that holds their ticket value, but expire completely 14 days after first use. These Magic Your Way tickets were sold for years. e.g. you bought 5 day tickets in 2015, they can still be used as 5 day tickets in 2020 (so they have no expiry date).
This is because this year, they started only selling expiring tickets. e.g if you bought 5 day tickets for $400 that expire in 2018, you would have to use the 5 day ticket within a period of 14 days by the end of 2018. Say you didn't use it before it expired. In 2019, you no longer have a 5 day ticket. You have a ticket worth $400 that you can apply towards any new ticket purchase (so if a 5 day ticket is now $450, you can apply $400 towards that).

I hope I explained everything properly - please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

Anyway, I have the first kind of non-expiring tickets (paid over $700 apiece!). They are awesome for short trips. I will not use them for long trips because they are not "worth it" to me. When I am in the World for long trips (like my upcoming 14 night August trip), I buy new tickets for my length of stay. I save these NE tickets for short 1-2 days trips where ticket prices are outrageous. I have so far used my tickets 3 times (2016 - 1 day, 2014, 2 days, 2013 - 1 day) and still have a bunch of park days (and waterpark days!) left on them. Last March I had a room-only reservation and used only one of my park days. I don't have to tell anybody - a day is "used" when I tap my magic band at the tapstiles.

Like you, I am trying to make the non-expiring tickets last. The last two trips there was some sort of special ticket available (one time a buy x days get y free, the other that United Ticket offer from last fall I believe it was) that worked out to be a lower cost per per day than my old non-expiring tickets had cost me, so I held off using them. Agree that they are ideal for short stays where the cost per day is high. And those special ticket deals have made me visit the parks more those stays than I had originally planned!

Thank you so much all for answering my questions.

If I can just use my ticket, how can I link it to MDE for FP+ selection?
When I link it does it show that I have non-expiry ticket?

@Robo : Thank you! I am not at Disney yet. We'll be going in June. :)

@tlmadden73 : Yes, I miss them too. We got them before our DD was born and made other trips when she was younger, so when we found out the NE doesn't exist anymore, we were shocked!

@elaine amj : Ah, that explains. Thanks! I wish I added Waterpark passes. :(

@amcnj : like you, last time I went, we went with FD and just got the ticket with the deals. This time, we're going for very short period of time (5 days)..

This is what I see when I log in to My Disney Experience and look under My Reservations and Tickets.

I linked it by entering in the code on the back of my tickets. If your tickets are older, you may have to call Disney for help in linking them.

Thank you SOOOO MUCH!!!!
Oh, how I wish I had added WPFAM option now that it's not even available without Park Hopper!
(Well, on the other hand, it wouldn't have worked very nicely if me and my DH has it all and my DD doesn't have anything...)

Its hard to predict so many years in advance what you want - especially when you are already faced with the crazy costs of buying a NE ticket. I had the waterparks in mind when I bought the tickets so that was a big deal to me.

.

Not really shocking now that you see the crazy price increases they've had since they stopped them. Someone probably has the math, but ticket prices have probably gone up 20% or more since they stopped these in 2015.

When they were for sale when I bought them it was really only worth paying the "premium" cost of NE tickets if you went on several short trips of 3 days or less (which I have done).
But now, prices have gone up so much since 2014 that my 10-day Hopper NE tickets (that cost me $75/day/person) that it is cheaper to use those tickets instead of buying a regular 6-day (or less) Park Hopper. I am saving probably $50/person simply by using these tickets rather than buying a normal 2-day park hopper now.

I am sure (thanks to sites like this) a ton of people were catching on and just pre-buying many vacations in advance and protected themselves from the yearly price increases like I did. That probably encouraged them to get rid of it.

Imagine if I save my days until 2020 or beyond.

Next week will be my third trip using those tickets. It has made these frequent, short trips affordable. I expect I will be going on 4-5 vacations with the money I spent back in 2014. It really is a shame there isn't still an option for people who are willing to "pre-buy" a bunch of their tickets (similar to DVC, but for tickets, not just a resort).

Preventing people from "sheltering" themselves from price increases and the fact they have to keep the tickets "on the books" probably encouraged them to get rid of them.

I am still shocked MDE can't simply tell me how many days I have left on them though.
