Non Expiring Ticket Warning - Glitch!

Our 60 day fast pass window opened Monday morning for a trip for 6. We are two families on a split stay. We were told by multiple CMs that we would have to book our on site cash stay and then later our David's rental as Disney sees these as two separate stays, even though our tickets spanned the vacation and were linked to the first stay. I planned fast passes for the entire trip, just in case.

Monday morning when the window opened the other party and I started booking fast passes. We are both arriving on the same day but we are a late arrival and will not be going into the park. As he booked for his 3 on arrival day, I went to the end of our window and tried to book. Because he has an old ticket linked to his account with days left on it, MDE prioritized that ticket for ME and I couldn't book him. I booked for 5 (my family and the rest of his family) and then we walked through the reservations on the phone so he could try to match times with a fp for himself. Thankfully it worked, mostly, and we have mostly exact overlaps with just a 5 to 10 minute difference.

I called Disney and got my theory confirmed that his ticket blocked me but not him, got a few moved a bit, and was told it might be possible that guest services can correct in the park.

We were lucky that slinky dog was on day 68.

Thank you everyone for this community which prepared me for the constant mess that is Disney IT.

He corrected this priority issue at guest services on our last trip. Be warned, if you have old tickets on your account with days left on them, not those phantom passes everyone has got, call Disney before your 60 day mark and make sure you are cleared to book.

(OT) I don't understand why the problem exists. For example if I have one unused 5 day pass and have the remains of an old non-expiring pass with 3 days left, then I should have 8 days I can book fastpasses for, assuming I have 8 days worth of resort stays, no?

Granted there may be a constant mess at Disney Information Technologies but if you are unable to get it fixed on arrival day then there is a constant mess at Guest Services also.

You don't need any resort stays booked in order to book FP+ for 8 days.
(Each day booked one-at-a-time, as each day reaches 30 days in advance.)
You only need the WDW resort stay booked if you want to book FP+ 60(+) days in advance.

I'm sure you know this, but there are so many readers who don't.

I am going to have this issue as well. I have 2-day non-expiring ticket on MDE that I will need to get second priority in my profile before 60 days. I was going to wait until we arrived and go to Disney Springs guest services, but I think I will call instead.

I am going to have this issue as well.

1. There is no need to have any tickets' priorities set before booking FP+.
FP+ is not linked to any particular tickets that are in your MDX.
Just as long as you have any tickets that are/will be valid on the day(s) of your trip,
FP+ can be booked.
When you arrive, you can choose to "use" any valid ticket and your FPs will work.

2. I don't know if they can set the priority of your tickets in advance of your being at WDW, regardless.

@Robo I don't want the above happening to me either. I will be the only one in my party with other tickets in MDE.

I would not expect that glitch to happen.
Especially because...
FP+ is not linked to any particular tickets that are in your MDX.
Just as long as you have any tickets that are/will be valid on the day(s) of your trip,
FP+ can be booked.
There are countless guests who have multiple tickets in their MDX accounts, and they can freely book advance FP+.

To be clear, he could book himself at 60 days out. I could only book him in our party at 30 days out. I called the Disney number and spoke to someone at the fast pass line. She confirmed it was probable that my theory was correct and that he should call in to discuss it. I could book his family members at 60+ days.

I've never had any trouble booking FP for my DH who has multiple non-expiring tickets on his account. At times we have had hoppers along with the NE tickets and I never had to prioritize them prior to booking FP. I don't understand what happened with the OP at all.

They guessed that was it. It was really just a random glitch and not something that happens to all
As Robo mentioned, FP are not attached to specific tickets and 9 out of 10 guests can book FP for each day of tickets they hold in their name.

Sounds like to me it was an issue with seeing his resort stay, not tickets.

ETA Not seeing his resort stay ALSO impacted the number of days you could book for him. It would revert to the rules similar to an AP holder who isn't staying on site. So more and more this had nothing at all to do with his tickets and everything with some issue related to his resort stay.

I am VERY glad to hear that our issue was something specific to him or his profile and not a regular thing. Thank you all for confirming with your knowledge and experience.
